Position Overview

Navistar International Corporation is a leading North American truck manufacturer with great products, a strong market positions and best-in-class distribution networks.

Our Huntsville Engine Plant is expanding! We are seeking a Lead Manufacturing Engineer to join our team.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Develop manufacturing processes, process sheets, control plans and layouts for a gearbox, engine or axle assembly line
* Identify and design error proofing to maintain our No Fault Forward quality standard
* Works with equipment vendors to specify and quote assembly equipment
* Managing the selected equipment vendors through the build, installation and commissioning of the production equipment
* Maintains records and reporting systems for coordination of manufacturing operations
* Position will initially provide support in a construction environment with hands-on field support of contractors, OEM's and Navistar Operations
* This position will require extensive time in adverse conditions during the construction phase of the project.

Basic Requirements

* Bachelor's degree
* At least 8 years of product manufacturing experience
* At least 1 year lead experience

OR

* Master's degree
* At least 6 years of product manufacturing experience
* At least 1 year lead experience

OR

* At least 10 years of product manufacturing experience
* At least 1 year lead experience

Additional Requirements

* Qualified candidates, excluding current Navistar employees, must be legally authorized on an unrestricted basis (US Citizen, Legal Permanent Resident, Refugee or Asylee) to be employed in the United States. Navistar does not anticipate providing employment related work sponsorship for this position (e.g., H-1B status)

* Able to travel International

Desired Skills

* Experience in the design, selection and implementation of automated gearbox assembly systems and other IQA (Integrated Quality Assurance) devices
* Prior experience in gearbox, engine or axle assembly
* Experience with electro-servo press units
* Strong communication skills
* Experience creating detailed Scopes of Work and verifying quotes meet those scopes
* Communication and coordination with Product Development, Manufacturing Operations, Quality and Equipment OEM's.
* Prior experience with contractor management of assembly system installations
* Experience with DFMEA analysis and PFMEA creation and maintenance
* Experience in the development of process sheets, control plans, work instructions, and PPAP documentation
* Experience working with 2D and 3D CAD systems
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Technology
