The PSNE year-round program application process will open January 4, 2021 and will close on January 15, 2021 at 5 p.m. CST.
To qualify for the year-round PSNE program, students must:
* Be currently enrolled full time in an accredited BSN school of professional nursing
* Have completed at least one nursing clinical rotation by beginning of program
* Verify academic standing by submission of unofficial school transcript
* Have a desire to work with the oncology patient population
* Be able to work a minimum of 24 hours every month (students may work a maximum of 64 hours every month)
* Be able to attend all days of mandatory institutional and nursing PSNE orientation. No exceptions will be made for this requirement. Mandatory orientation will be held March 15-19, 2021 from 8:00 am to 4:30pm.

Clinical experience
The program length is two to four semesters. Selected applicants will complete an orientation overseen by Nursing Workforce Planning and Development and the Nursing Education team. Each student will be assigned to work under the direct supervision of registered nurse preceptors in one of our many clinical inpatient specialty areas.
Compensation
This is a temporary position. Students are paid a competitive hourly salary and work a minimum of 24 hours every month (students may work a maximum of 64 hours every month). This position is not eligible for benefits.

SUMMARY
Function: Performs patient care activities and services necessary in maintaining activities of daily living of patients.
Scope: Impacts patient care activities that do not require the attention of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN).
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Adheres to the standards of nursing care and the policies and procedures of the hospital. Performs basic procedures to include vital signs, intake and output and tube feedings. Collects data and provides information to the registered nurse in developing care plan. Reports all observed symptoms, reactions, treatments and changes in the patient's condition to the registered nurse. Documents nursing intervention in the patient's medical record. Maintains the work environment as assigned. Provides for patient's safety. Utilizes available resources. Identifies self-development needs and seeks assistance in meeting those needs. Demonstrates behavior that reflects cooperation, commitment, adjustment, reliability and initiative.
Education Required: Currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing for registered nurse. Must have completed one semester/quarter of nursing courses.
Experience Required: Clinical experience in a hospital or nursing home setting for one semester/quarter.
