The ideal candidate will have two years of Advanced Practice Provider experience. Prior leadership, Colorectal and Surgical Oncology experience highly preferred.
Key Functions
Collaborates with APP Manager and other APP Supervisors to administratively supervise, plan, and coordinate a clinical APP team for Colon and Rectal Surgery. Scope: Affects the clinical APP team in the department to include overall operations, staffing, operational planning, quality assurance, and administration of activities and personnel that impact Colon and Rectal Surgery clinic and OR operations.
Patient care: Patient care employee demonstrates population-based competencies (age-specific, diversity) that cross the continuum of care; employee functions within their professional scope. As supervisor, ensure adequate APP support for areas covered by the department (clinic, OR, inpatient units).
Supervise and promote teamwork: Initiate, develop, and manage relationships and networks. Create and adjust schedules and ensure staffing for clinics and inpatient census, OR case coverage. Value the contributions of all team members; balance individual and team goals. Encourage collaboration and input from all team members.
Onboarding, coaching, and developing: Assess strengths and development needs of APPs, provide challenging development opportunities; provide relevant and timely feedback. Participate in screening recruitment, selection, and hiring of APPs for the department. Perform job evaluation and provide professional development guidance for APPs.
Medical knowledge: Employee demonstrates medical knowledge for the colon and rectal patient population as part of clinical role. Provide leadership in helping develop training program and schedules for APPs.
Professional practice: Supervisor demonstrates commitment to collaborative professional relationships with supervising physicians, APPs, and all members of the heath care team. Ensure APPs abide by professional guidelines for licensing, credentialing and privileging.
REQUIREMENTS
Education:Degree requirements as defined by the Texas State Board Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) or Texas State Board of Nurse Exmaniners (TSBNE), as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
Experience:Two years experience as an advanced practice provider.
License/Certification:Current license and/or certification as defined by the (TSBPAE) or (TSBNE) as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) or Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification. Preferred: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
