Production Optics Test Engineer

Job Description

The Hardware Network Engineering team is responsible for hardware design, implementation and support of one of the worlds largest networks. We are looking for a Production Optics Test Engineer to validate optics used in Facebooks cutting-edge network. As a Production Optics Test Engineer, you will have a unique opportunity to validate optical hardware prior to use in Facebooks hyper-scale data centers.

Production Optics Test Engineer Responsibilities

* Conduct validation testing of optical transceivers used in Facebooks production network.

* Create validation reports and review results with the cross-functional optics team.

* Create drivers for optical and electrical testing instruments.

* Develop test automation software for optical transceiver and sub-component testing.

* Expand test capability in conjunction with improved test automation enabling increased test coverage while maintaining cycle time.

* Perform optical testing at component and module level, including transmitter and receiver characterization.

* Assist in the development test automation software to test optical transceiver compatibility with different network switches.

Minimum Qualifications

* Experience with optical transceiver testing.

* Proficiency in automation scripting languages including Python.

* Experience with automated instrument control.

* Knowledge of fiber-optics fundamentals and best practices.

* Knowledge of network switch configuration and traffic testing.

* Work ethic and proven communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

* BS/MS in EE, CS or a related technical field
