Job Description

Facebook's Privacy team is seeking Incident Investigation Engineer interns with a passion for protecting security and privacy through triaging, mitigating, remediating and learning from security privacy incidents and application-level weaknesses potentially found in our systems. Your skills will be the foundation of initiatives that protect the privacy of over two billion people. You will advance Facebook's mission to make privacy a priority in everything we do by identifying and remediating instances of inappropriate data use or access. Privacy Incident Investigation Engineer Intern Responsibilities

* Work with teams across the company, investigating privacy issues in all of FB's family of products including Oculus, Instagram, Workplace, and more.

* Triage and determine priority of several incidents at once and work cross functionally with analysts, legal, and product teams to determine privacy issue root causes

* Suggest remediation, and determine full scope of impact of incident

* Reproduce vulnerabilities or privacy issues with appropriate tooling and instrumentation for data analysis

* Develop software tooling to automate repetitive investigative tasks or allow analysts to interact with specific datasets

* This role can shift between data exploration, software development, triaging incidents, reviewing code for security/privacy flaws, or all of the above.

Minimum Qualifications

* Has a passion for protecting peoples privacy, Incident Response, and/or Incident Investigation

* Experience with Python, PHP, Java, C/C++ or an equivalent language

* Familiarity with web application security and privacy vulnerabilities and exploits

* Comfortable communicating with both technical and non-technical stakeholders

* Must obtain work authorization in the country of employment at the time of hire, and maintain ongoing work authorization during employment

* Must be in the process of obtaining a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Cybersecurity Forensics, Electrical Engineering or a similar program

* Must be returning to the degree program after the completion of the internship/co-op.

Preferred Qualifications

* Cyber forensics investigative experience or relevant classwork

* Web security experience or relevant classwork

* Penetration testing experience or relevant classwork
