Southern Industrial is looking for a Senior Accountant for our corporate office in Raleigh, NC. The Senior Accountant works within the Corporate Accounting Department and contributes to the integrity of accounting information as well as financial reporting through assisting in the recording, verifying, and entering of general ledger transactions. The Senior Accountant works closely with the Controller and Assistant Controller and others as needed.
Essential Functions & Duties:
* Assist in monthly financial statements preparation including preparing various closing journal entries.
* Perform month-end account reconciliations for general ledger accounts.
* Update and maintain fixed asset ledgers.
* Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting required by parent company.
* Assist with monthly, quarterly, and annual tax reporting required by local and state governments as well as parent company.
* Research financial and tax topics as needed.
* Respond to inquiries from management and parent company as needed.
* Assist with coordination of financial statement reviews and audits from both Internal Audit and external firms.
* Organize and maintain financial records and related data.
* Support financial decision-making by collecting, analyzing, investigating and reporting financial data.
* Contribute to accomplishing both accounting and organization mission by completing related tasks as needed.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Strong interpersonal skills including communication, attention to detail, follow-through and organization.
* Analytical mindset with both research and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to think and work independently, as well as within a team environment.
* Working knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
* Computer skills to include proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and database management.
* Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.
