The Analytical Development Biochemistry and Chemistry Development group (AD BioCD) in RTP, NC is seeking a Scientist I, who will work within a cross-functional team to advance our portfolio in both protein and oligonucleotide (ASO) therapeutics. The candidate will provide expertise and knowledge in analytical method development, method troubleshooting, as well as implementation of new analytical technologies. The candidate should have extensive experience and knowledge in analytical techniques such as mass spectrometry and separation science.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

* Develop, qualify and troubleshoot LC-MS based analytical methods for protein and antisense oligonucleotide (ASO) therapeutics.
* Author method development, qualification and characterization reports, technical memos, and SOPs
* Perform detailed protein and ASO characterization using advanced methodologies.
* Provide technical leadership such as critical review of data , troubleshooting assays, and training others on analytical methods. Share technical expertise with others and mentor junior scientists.
* Develop and implement new analytical technologies for protein and ASO characterization.
* Publish in scientific journals and/or present at internal or external scientific meetings.
* Represent and/or support AD in project teams.

Qualifications

* Strong background and technical expertise in analytical chemistry methodologies such as mass spectrometry, liquid chromatography and electrophoresis.
* Experience in protein and antisense oligonucleotide characterization using mass spectrometry
* Experience in analytical method development using liquid chromatographic and electrophoretic approaches, such as HILIC, SEC, RP, IEC, CE-SDS and icIEF is highly desirable
* Proficient in good documentation practices, data analysis, reporting and review.
* Ability to work independently in lab but with strong collaboration and communication skills.
* Excellent time management and organization skills.

Education:

PhD in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related Biological Sciences + 0-2 years of relevant experience; MS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related Biological Sciences + 4-6 years of relevant experience;
BS degree in Analytical Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related Biological Sciences + 6-8 years of relevant experience.
