This position is part of our Signal & Power Solutions segment, Connection Systems business unit.

The Business: This business unit provides technologies that serve as the nervous system of the vehicle, including the complete design, manufacture and assembly of the vehicles connection systems.

This business units products include a vast array of connection systems technologies for the vehicle, including: Housings, Terminals, MePa/Pin-headers, High Voltage Chargers and Interconnects, SRS, High Speed Data solutions, On-Glass connections, Electrical Centers, Media Modules and Wireless Charging products.

Our technology provides the critical signal distribution and computing power backbone that supports increased vehicle content and electrification, reduced emissions and higher fuel economy.

Summary (About this Position):

The North America Media Modules team has an exciting opportunity for a Sr Electrical Engineer. The successful candidate will be in an electronics design position developing leading edge circuits and systems to solve automotive integration of USB connectivity modules that outperform commercial products.

Responsibilities:

* Design OEM products requiring circuits such as switch mode power supplies, power switches, HDMI receivers, USB hubs, embedded MCU, audio/video codecs, and wireless communications links based on standards based USB-IF, RF (e.g. 802.11n, Bluetooth) and proprietary infrared technology.

* Work directly with automotive OEMs and other Tier 1 suppliers to design products that meet customer functional, EMC and electrical requirements.

* Develop product schematics and oversee PCB layout.

* Develop new circuit building blocks and new components, including thermal, power, EMC performance, etc.

* Negotiate product Design Validation plan with the customer and manage its execution in the test lab.

* Conduct detailed bench-marking, competitive and cost trade-off analysis.

* Perform simulations, worst case circuit tolerance analysis, FMEAs, fault tree analysis and similar design disciplines.

* Bench level debugging, testing and prototyping.

* Analyze and operate with a consumer-focused and platform mindset in addition to utilizing excellent OE design practices.

* Travel as required, 10-15%.

* Ensure compliance with customer specific requirements.

Must Haves (i.e. Basic Qualifications):

* Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Physics with Electronics background.

* Demonstrable analog and digital design experience developing & deploying electronics and electronic circuits/systems.

* Experience with typical industry practices and OEM customer requirements for design of electrical products.

* Digital design experience with memory interfaces, display interfaces, IIS, I2C, SPI and other high speed serial communication interfaces such as USB 2.0, USB3.0, and HDMI.

* Analog design experience with analog circuits including power amplifiers, audio, video, and power supplies. RF design capability (Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC).

* Experience with simulation tools and schematic capture software programs.

* Experience with DVP&R Testing.

* Experience using latest equipment including scopes, spectrum analyzers, logic analyzers and multi-meters.

Nice to Haves (i.e. Preferred Qualifications):

* Master's degree in Electrical Engineering.

* Knowledge of proper design methods to reduce RFI, EMI and ESD to pass automotive specifications, and EMC/EMI protection circuitry.

* Strong working knowledge of SMT, heat sinks and injection molding.

* Demonstrated ability to problem solve through both an individual analytical and collaborative approach.

* Experience at Tier 1 Automotive electronics company.

* Demonstrated proficiency using Microsoft Office (i.e. Word, Project, Excel, Outlook, Skype, Teams, Visio, etc.).

* Ability to work effectively with people at all levels in an organization.

* Strong results-orientation and execution characteristics.

* Excellent oral and written communication skills with a strong ability to work with a team.

* Ability to effectively organize, prioritize and accomplish multiple conflicting tasks, make intelligent, timely decisions and solve problems independently.
