Position Summary:
Efficiently enable the creation, evaluation and execution of transactions, which entail product offerings spanning multiple lines of business. Fulfill responsibilities on the Desk such as analyzing customer energy usage and operations, assessing the current asset and load performance, and determining the optimal mix of potential applicable customer solutions (e.g., controls, battery storage, renewables, or on site generation). Provide technical, financial, and market analysis related to the development of strategic transactions, identifying potential customers, as well as benchmarking and maintaining measurements of deal performance. Responsible for assisting the Deal Desk Director with the optimal deal solution design and sizing, taking into account the marginal revenues relative to the total marginal cost impact including engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC), operations and maintenance (O&M), fuel and any opportunity costs. Interfaces with internal stakeholders, such as Business Unit Leadership, Structuring, Risk Management, Credit, Legal including regulatory, Accounting, and Market Risk, as well as external customers when needed.

Essential Job Functions & Tasks:

* Perform detailed analysis and investigate internal and external market conditions and technologies to support recommendations on markets, competitors, trends, etc.
* Stay abreast of EPC costs, technology deployment, best practices, vendors and industry trends to avoid opportunity costs of poor solution specification.
* Assist AEP Energy, AEP Energy Partners, AEP Renewables, and AEP OnSite Partners sales/business development in the proper representation of non-standard deal details, returns, and risks to upper management and oversight functions, including presentation preparation, in an effort to streamline approval and closing process.
* Report on and analyze forecasted and actual deal performance, by leveraging existing tools and building new models. Incorporate asset performance and percentage of potential margin capture as appropriate.
* Assist Front Office in the optimal response to complex request for proposal (RFP) responses and customer requests when necessary and drive proactive strategic customer solution design whenever possible. Become familiar with Challenger messaging and the development of customer insight.
* Coordinate with Middle Office desks and technical experts in other departments to facilitate transaction valuation, analysis and risk booking, in order to expedite execution and properly reflect margin across segments. Assist in the evaluation of custom deal risk premiums and operational costs. Lead or facilitate asset specific deal risks from construction, to performance, to asset life as needed.
* Analyze and evaluate financial and physical commodity (gas, power, emissions, and renewable energy credits) positions and other pertinent data associated with complex deals, as well as any embedded real asset contractual optionality.
* Comply with regulatory requirements, including but not limited to Sarbanes Oxley and Dodd Frank. Adhere to all company risk and compliance standards.
* Provide support or ad-hoc analysis to other groups.
* Help foster a culture of creative problem solving and solutions development.

Minimum Requirements Minimum Qualifications for Deal Desk Analyst Sr:
Education: Bachelor s Degree in finance, engineering, mathematics, or other related field of study.
Experience: Typically 6 years of experience in energy industry, preferably in engineering, structuring, or risk management.

Minimum Qualifications for Deal Desk Analyst:
Education: Bachelor's degree in finance, engineering, mathematics, or related field of study.
Experience: Typically 4 years of experience in energy industry, preferably in engineering, structuring, or risk management.

Additional Requirements :

* Certified Energy Manager (CEM), Professional Engineer (PE), and/or Energy Auditor certifications preferred.
* Position may require travel when needed.
* Strong commercial, analytical, and technical skills are required, including modeling and advanced Excel knowledge.
* The ability to successfully work with a diverse set of cross-functional teams, customers, or partners is required. Strong cross functional collaboration is mandatory.
* Working knowledge of energy transaction valuation, energy system infrastructure and data sources is preferred.
* The individual must possess the ability to keep commercially sensitive items confidential. Individual must possess a positive attitude, be a detail-oriented self-starter, and work well in a fast-paced, dynamic business environment.
