Job Summary:

The Manager will be responsible for the effective sourcing of indirect spend categories, focused on facilities, office, and laboratory services, capital equipment, and capital-related engineering, equipment installation, and construction services. Position may also be responsible for sourcing in categories including transportation, logistics, and contract manufacturing.

The Manager must operate independently and provide category sourcing strategy, thought leadership, and direction for all sourcing activities. Must have strategic sourcing knowledge, knowledge of procurement process best practices, sourcing principles, spend analysis, supplier compensation models, the development and management of request-for-proposals (RFPs), and supplier relationship management.

The Manager must be able to develop and execute negotiation strategies and lead the negotiation process with external suppliers, often dealing with individuals of higher levels (VPs, Principals, CFOs, CEOs). The Manager should be an experienced negotiator and have experience negotiating complex contractual terms. The Manager will also be responsible for developing and master agreements, statements of work, and purchase order terms and conditions. Must be able to collaborate with attorneys to review and finalize agreements for executive approval.

The candidate for this position will have the skills and capabilities to lead cross-functional sourcing teams in large spend areas, and to work with and influence internal Hershey leadership to adopt leading practices to improve operational effectiveness and drive sourcing value.

This position has a strong North American focus, but must also be able to operate on a global basis, with projects involving Hersheys Latin American, European, and Asian operations.

Minimum knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform major duties/responsibilities:

REQUIRED

* Strong communication and leadership skills; including the ability to influence and drive change.
* Strong organization skills.
* Strong negotiating skills and the ability to handle complex negotiations, and knowledge of contract law.
* Strong knowledge of sourcing and procurement principles and processes.
* Ability to travel domestically and internationally up to 10%
* Experience leading formal requests-for-proposals (RFPs) in large and complex spend areas.

DESIRED

* Working knowledge of SAP and/or Ariba especially the financial and procurement modules.
* Knowledge of consumer packaged goods manufacturing, particularly processing, packaging, and material handling equipment
* Facilities services knowledge and/or sourcing experience (e.g. security services, uniform, food services, printing, janitorial)
* Experience leading formal requests-for-proposals (RFPs) for facilities services, capital, construction, and/or other professional services in large and complex spend areas

Qualifications:

* Bachelors degree in business, science, engineering or related fields. (MBA a plus.)
* Minimum of 5 years of sourcing or other negotiation experience, or 8 years of indirect sourcing experience, including marketing - preferred.
* Previous experience with procurement procedures and controls.
* Previous experience with Consumer Packaged Goods a plus.
* Previous experience with Marketing, Consulting or other strategic professional services a plus.
