WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for a Director, Retail & Service Research Analytics. Youre an experienced senior leader whos recognized as an expert in the field of qualitative and quantitative insights, with proven success catalyzing insights to action, driving the evolution of retail and service experiences, developing best-in-class omnichannel and digital products and working with integrated retail/ digital technology and design teams.

Youre a pro at uncovering consumer needs through a variety of qualitative and quantitative methods to enable and prioritize feature creation, as well as to optimize retail, digital and service experiences. And you know how to present complex ideas, so theyre easy to understand and can anticipate objections while persuading others to adopt a point of view.

WHO YOU WILL WORK WITH
The Director, Retail & Service Research & Analytics will lead a team responsible for data science, analytics, experimentation and user research to drive the creation and optimization of retail and service experiences that are distinctly Nike and serve the needs of the consumer. Your core partners are leaders from Nike Stores and Service, retail/digital product management, service and experience design, product and data engineering functions.

What you will work on

- Manage, mentor, and inspire a talented and varied technical team; managing performance, goals and development potential

- Encourage ever deepening consumer empathy from your team, partners and leadership as they seek to build best in class services and experiences

- Set team strategy to enable the design of scalable, end-to-end analytic and research solutions

- Direct the exploration, validation, and implementation of innovative and contemporary data science, analytics, and research techniques and tools to derive impactful insight that have impact to wide variety of business goals

- Own relationships with key business partners to understand and anticipate current and future business needs

- Effectively communicate with leadership across organizations influencing strategic decisions, while protecting the interest of the department

- Act as an ongoing thought partner and strategic advisor to product and design partners to ensure insights are being interpreted and effectively applied

- Lead and collaborate with multi-functional teams of data scientists, business analysts, qualitative researchers, digital designers, engineers, and business partners to take an opportunity or pain point from concept to a new experience, feature or service

- Stay abreast of and apply retail industry and technology trends as well as emerging tools and techniques relevant to the teams disciplines

- Create and foster an environment that values and promotes autonomy, skill mastery, empowerment, transparency, innovation, and continuous learning

WHAT YOU BRING TO NIKE
- 8+ years experience in the retail or e-commerce industry at a digital agency, in-house at a brand, or in an academic setting

- Bachelors in HCDE, Human Factors, Cognitive Psychology, Mathematics, Statistics, or related field

- Demonstrable ability to plan, lead, execute and deliver measurable qualitative and quantitative insight solutions

- Expertise in synthesizing findings that translate into meaningful insights

REQUIRED SKILLS
- Experience coaching and leading a team with varied and diverse skill sets across research, analytics and data science

- The ability to think creatively with data, formulate and get traction around new ideas, and bring a new perspective to business and engineering partners

- Able to influence and communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with team members, business partners and leadership

- Able to influence critical business outcomes in a matrix based, global environment

- Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve both people and process related issues

- Excellent communications skills, in particular, the ability to communicate technical content to general audience in presentation and meeting format

- Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment and to multi-task across different functions of the business, and switch workstreams and handle many different levels of requests.

PREFERRED SKILLS
- In-depth experience conducting shopper research globally, including non-English marketplaces

- Familiarity with testing methods and analysis

- Familiarity with applied data science, and able to coach data science talent

- Executive level presentation and communication experience

- Consumer experience with Nike digital apps (NTC, NRC, SNKRS, Nike App) and retail environments

- Knowledge of Nikes physical merchandise and company history
