Job Summary: Performs a full range of routine and specialized Nuclear Medicine studies including MUGA functional studies, exercise stress tests, pharmacological stress tests, viability, and perfusion studies. Prepares, measures, and administers radiopharmaceuticals in diagnostic studies. Calculates doses, and administers doses under direction of a physician. Calibrates and performs quality control on equipment in accordance to State regulations and WFH Nuclear Cardiology policy and procedures. Performs diagnostic studies on patients as prescribed by physician, using scanners or scintillation cameras to detect radiation emitted and to produce quality images of organs for diagnostic interpretation. Measures radioactivity, using Geiger counters, scalers and scintillation detectors in accordance to State regulations and WFH Nuclear Cardiology policy and procedures. Follows radiation safety techniques in use and disposal of radioactive materials in accordance to State regulations, Radiation Safety Protection Program, and WFH Nuclear Cardiology policy and procedures. Adheres to OSHA regulations including Universal Precautions/Infection Control, Bio-Hazard Waste Management, and Hazard Materials. Maintains individual credentialing. Processes related paperwork and QA documentation using computer equipment as directed. Maintains examination rooms. Stocks necessary medical and Nuclear Medicine supplies. Reports equipment malfunctions and/or the need for adjustment to the Supervisor in a timely manner. Responsible for confirming correct patient/correct exam/correct order/correct patient demographics, prior to scan. Responsible for entering, editing, and completing exams in Meditech. Responsible for patient scheduling. Responsible for verifying exam transmission to PACs. Adapts to schedule changes including call and weekends. Follows policies and procedures of West Florida Hospital. Participates in the Quality Improvement process and adheres to WFH standards of behavior.

Qualifications

Education:

Associates Degree in healthcare field is preferred

License/Certification:
Current ARRT or NMTCB and Florida Certification are required

Experience:

Clinical experience acquired in an ARRT approved nuclear medicine program is required. A minimum of one (1) to three (3) years experience as a registered technologist is preferred.
