Job Description

Our General Motors recruitment team is proud to attend the BEYA 2021 Virtual Career Fair. We are seeking to identify highly motivated and qualified individuals for our Entry Level Electrical Hardware Engineer role. Please note that this role is for 2022 start dates. Entry Level Electrical Hardware Engineer (2022 Start Dates)

We need employees to solve real world problems! Therefore, the design, development and testing of electronic components and systems is key here at GM. This rotational opportunity is an early career development initiative for new hires designed to build foundational skills, to gain greater exposure and to better understand our business. This role aims to develop and strengthen the future of our organization through rotational development, networking and annual development opportunities. This program requires a two-year commitment and consists of 4 six-month assignments. Upon completion of the program, participants are matched to opportunities based on interest and business needs.

Primary Responsibilities:

* Translate breakthrough technologies into vehicles and experiences
* Provide an innovative thinking approach to working with electrical sensors, actuators, electric motors, power electronics, and electronic controller hardware
* Lead and direct the design and analysis of these components
* Act as the primary contact for any issues/concerns during the product lifecycle
* Collaborate with varying degrees of management and other coworkers
* Demonstrate product safety, integrity, and quality through testing

Additional Job Description

Qualifications:

* Currently pursuing a Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering with hardware focus
* ABET accredited program preferred
* Demonstrated knowledge and application of Electrical Engineering Principles - EX: Circuits, Induction, power generation - Power & Signal distribution Software (PSDS)
* Must have a minimum of a 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale
* Must be graduating between April 2021 and June 2022

Desired Skills:

* Prior internship experience in automotive or technology
* Demonstrated leadership in field of study, extracurricular activities or service organizations
* High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative and is proactive
* Emerging partnership and collaboration skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a fast-paced environment
* Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust
* DOORS Requirements management software
* Efficient use of Software Programs Ex: NX, TeamCenter, MATLAB Simulink, Vehicle SPY (CAN Interface), EAGLE (Circuit Board Design), etc.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to distill sophisticated subjects to a wider audience
* Emerging partnership and teamwork skills and ability to learn from and share knowledge with co-workers in a rapidly moving environment
* High level of integrity, ability to deal with ambiguity, takes initiative/self-directed
* Evidence of strong character with integrity, honesty, accountability and trust
* Deliver new and creative solutions to complex problems
