Job Description

The Role

The Active Safety Feature Owner defines requirements, develops roll out plans, and leads all feature development to ensure it meets customer, performance, and regulatory requirements. This role will have responsibility for Rear Impact Mitigation (RIM) and Lateral Impact Mitigation (LIM).

The Feature Owner is responsible to ensure that system engineering methods are applied during the creation, development and validation of the features. The Feature Owner leads respective workgroups and Technical Review Boards and may provide technical direction over other engineers and support personnel.

Responsibilities

* Develop and champion Feature Technical Specifications (FTS) or System Technical Specifications (STS) level requirements

* Engage and drive the development of industry/governmental standards and definitions for space.

* Solicit and define customer requirements through customer clinics, competitive benchmarking and working with program teams and marketing

* Lead System Development Workgroup

* Approve deviation requests that cannot/do not meet Feature/System Requirements and support proper escalation and long-term resolution

* Develop and maintain system technology roll-out

* Lead or support Advance Technical Work (ATW) projects for the development of new systems and technologies.

* Lead effort to generate Feature and System level DFMEAs

* Ensure System development follows System Safety Process

* Allocate System Level requirements to appropriate systems and support system design efforts to ensure that System Level requirements are met

* Act as primary contact for the resolution of current product system regulatory, compliance, and customer satisfaction issues (including PRTS and SUFS)

* Approve system performance for production release

* Act as primary interface between the Active Safety Systems Engineering organization and the multitude of GSSLTs impacted for assigned system

* Work with feature owners in other domains to ensure proper integration

* Support Validation & Verification efforts for assigned system

* Provide technical support throughout all phases of the GVDP to ensure robust program execution and performance

Additional Job Description

Requirements

* Bachelor in Engineering, Physics, Math, or Computer Science (Electrical Engineer is preferred)

* 2+ years of experience in job-related area

* Ability to effectively communicate issues, status and recommendations to senior management

* Strong understanding of major automotive subsystems

* Experience with and/or knowledge of relevant technologies (eg Radar, Camera systems, CAN)

* Experience with the development of automotive safety, connectivity and/or convenience features (Highly Preferred)

* Experience or knowledge of relevant tools ( eg: IBM Rational Team Concert, NX(UG), Matlab, Simulink,)

* Demonstrated excellent level of analytical ability, communication and interpersonal skills required to build relationships with team members and customers to solve problems and resolve issues

* Demonstrated ability to manage multiple and the most complex projects and assignments with the highest level of autonomy and accountability for results

* Demonstrates initiative by reaching beyond work assigned to improve output and/or help others

* Proven ability in project management skills and ability to teach others

Desired Skills

* 5+ years of experience in job-related area

* Design for Six Sigma experience (Black Belt Certification)
