Job Description
Comcasts Product & Technology division is looking for a self-motivated, Full stack engineer to contribute to the design and development of X1 for XFINITY TV (www.xfinity.com/x1), the companys flagship video product and customer experience! Key Responsibilities:
* Develop features for the cloud-based DVR Scheduling application and middleware modules that power X1 and Xfinity Stream DVR features.
* Participate in product design discussions, code reviews with other developers and engineering managers
* Perform troubleshooting and debugging of routine issues
* Take ownership and become Subject Matter Expert (SME) of a module.
* Work in a dynamic, collaborative environment using agile methodologies
Core Responsibilities
* Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determine integration needs.
* Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications. Assists with the software update process for existing applications and roll-outs of software releases.
* Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
* Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, test results, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
* Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to the solution of assigned projects.
* Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures and techniques. Serves as a guide and mentor for junior-level Software Development Engineers.
* Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
* Displays in-depth knowledge of engineering methodologies, concepts, skills and their application in the area of specified engineering specialty.
* Displays in-depth knowledge of and ability to apply, process design and redesign skills. Presents and defends architectural, design and technical choices to internal audiences.
* Displays knowledge of and ability to apply, project management skills.
* Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
* Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
* Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Skills & Requirements:
* Bachelors degree in Computer Science (or equivalent field of study) from an accredited university
* Proven experience building enterprise scale software applications in Java
* Solid understanding of Spring Boot services
* Experience with multi-threaded applications, memory management and performance tuning
* Prior experience working on public cloud solutions like AWS or Azure.
* Strong understanding of Service Oriented Architecture (Microservices) with scalability, performance and reliability issues
* Experience working in DevOps environment with exposure to tools like Jenkins or Concourse
* Passion for working in technology as proven by personal project work, open-source contributions, personal websites or participation in tech communities
* Experience with high level programming and scripting languages like Bash, Perl, Python or Ruby
* Experience in NoSQL databases like Cassandra/Scylla/MongoDB
