Manager/Snr. Manager, Oncology Competitive Intelligence
The Manager/Snr. Manager, Oncology Competitive Intelligence, develops and executes the Competitive Intelligence (CI) vision and strategy for specified solid tumor indications within the BMS portfolio, from early pipeline through to market entry & brand growth, in alignment with stakeholder priorities and/or brand strategic imperatives. This role works closely with disease area matrix teams (including leaders and teams in Commercial, R&D, Medical, & Market Access) to provide strategic support through the identification, analysis, and distribution of timely & relevant business and competitive intelligence and actionable insights that inform the near and long term franchise strategies in Oncology.
Key Responsibilities
* Point of contact for internal stakeholders and specified brand teams, responsible for implementing all elements of internal CI model based on consultative strategic engagement
* Develops a robust CI plan, aligned to KITs & KIQs, to monitor the competitive environment and emerging scientific data and inform clinical, regulatory and commercial strategies for BMS marketed/ investigational assets, our portfolio, and our disease areas
* Delivers competitor insights that inform market entry scenario planning, brand growth initiatives and the development of brand lifecycle strategies
* Based on identified strategic questions, continuously monitors the competitive environment and emerging scientific data to identify market events with potential impact on our franchise and brand strategies (includes congress coverage and key business intelligence projects)
* Effectively manages engagement of both internal intelligence networks and external CI vendors to collect, synthesize and distill information into clear, concise, and compelling implications, with actionable recommendations for the team.
* Presents key insights and recommendations, as needed, across functions and levels within the organization.
* Closely collaborates with other global and regional counterparts, Medical Information, Investor Relations, Public Relations and Regulatory colleagues to integrate critical information into validated assumptions.
* Responds to ad hoc key business questions with expert analysis
* Executes all projects within budget assigned, in a timely fashion, making tradeoffs as necessary
* Ensures appropriate dissemination of, and access to, competitive intelligence so it may be fully leveraged to answer strategic questions
* Demonstrates, and holds others accountable to, high standards of business integrity
* Domestic and international business travel required approximately 15% of time
Skills/Knowledge & Experience Required (Qualifications)
* BA/BS required
* 2+ years of Competitive Intelligence and/or consulting experience in the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry required
* Solid knowledge of Competitive intelligence methodologies, techniques and tools preferred
* Experience in Oncology strongly preferred.
* Demonstrated ability to quickly and independently build proficiency in new categories or therapeutic areas
* Solid business understanding of pharmaceutical drug development and commercialization pathways
* Ability to think strategically, synthesize and analyze across data sources and develop actionable recommendations that support decision-making
* Proven ability to manage multiple projects while effectively managing time and resources
* Demonstrated initiative, intellectual curiosity, creativity, strategic thinking, and ability to work effectively in complex, rapidly changing environments
* Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to work with diverse teams across organizational lines and structures, to collaborate, manage expectations, and build consensus with colleagues in various geographies, roles, & hierarchical levels
* Ability to organize, synthesize and distill key information with strong oral/written communication
* Experience in delivering concise, clear presentations to a variety of internal colleagues, including senior executives
* Familiarity with basic business software tools and environments (e.g., MS Office, SharePoint) and pharmaceutical related CI data sources (e.g., Cortellis, commercially available clinical trial databases)
* Superior presentation skills
* Ability to travel approximately 15% of time
