Position Description:

The vision for the Global Workplace and Enterprise Services (GWES) organization based in Pennsylvania is to improve patients lives by providing world-class facility services & solutions that enable innovative research, medicines, & vaccines. The Operations Specialist position will provide support for the waste management organization at the West Point site. This operation is responsible for the removal of Manufacturing and Research waste in a safe and compliant manor. Under the supervision of the Associate Director, the candidate will be responsible for maintaining the waste tracking system database and assisting Staff with all aspects of the waste management program. Candidate will be responsible for complying with all safety policies and environmental requirements.

Primary Activities

The primary activities include and are not limited to the following:

Assist Manager with Part B RCRA Hazardous Waste Permit Program:

* Maintain compliance with all EPA, DOT, and PADEP requirements.

* Conduct compliant profiling, segregation, storage, placarding, and inventory for all wastes generated at West Point.

* Conduct waste inventory as required by Part B permit and assist with the scheduling of all shipments with transporters and final disposal facility for each waste profile.

* Assist Manager with maintaining all shipping papers/ hazardous waste manifests, waste profile submittals, inspection checklists, biennial reports, and training records as required.

* Maintain waste tracking database.

* Coordinate Site waste removal and disposal for waste tanks at various locations throughout the site.

Assist Manager with Radioactive, Regulated Medical, Universal, & Residual waste programs:

* Maintain compliance with all PADEP, EPA and NRC Environmental requirements.

* Assist with proper segregation, storage, and shipment of wastes.

* Assist with Health Physics to maintain waste inventory, decay in storage, and disposal schedule for all radioactive waste.

Position Qualifications:

Education Minimum Requirement:

* BS degree in chemistry/biology, environmental, or other applied science.

Required Experience and Skills:

* Must have evidence of strong leadership and communication skills.

* Must be able to perform a wide array of work activities with attention to detail and follow through to closure.

* Able to work both independently to complete tasks and respond to department requests as well as collaborate with others to utilize resources and knowledge in identifying effective solutions.

* Experience in an environmental sciences or chemistry a plus.
