What you will do
Responsible for the profitable execution of HVAC Controls, Building Wide Systems Integrations, Fire and Security, and other technology projects to include Networking, Nurse Call, DAS, A/V and other similar systems within an assigned geography. Supervises a team of Project Managers, Project Executives, Site Superintendents, and Project Admin personnel to plan, execute, and complete large and complicated projects. Ensures work performed is in compliance with state/provincial, local and Federal laws. Ensures every employee and subcontractor executes the work with the highest of ethics and adherence to all safety standards.
In addition: This position will be responsible for the Great Midwest Area. This individual can be based out of any one of the following offices and will be required to travel as needed throughout the Area. (Columbus OH, Cleveland OH, Cincinnati OH, Indianapolis IN)
External Relationships:
The Connected Technology (CT) Installation Manager is actively involved with national and regional firms to build relationships with the project owners of mechanical contractors, general contractors, subcontractors, construction firm leaders, and engineering consultants.
Internal Relationships:
Assists Area Management Team to effectively plan for future resource needs, training and development of the technical field force, and assists in allocating resource needs to meet near term commitments.
Assists Area Management Team in the preparation of the monthly financial forecast, annual strategic and financial operating plan.
Assists Area Management Team on coaching Local Market team management on successful execution strategies and objectives.
Assists Area Sales Management team by working with engaging Project Managers in sales support activities early in the sales process to provide input on vendor/partners selection, scope enhancements, value engineering, risk assessment etc. Leverages installation capabilities as a sales differentiator.
Assists HVAC Installation Managers and System Team Leaders as needed in resolution of project related issues within assigned Local Market team.
How you will do it
1\. Manages the profitable execution of Major Projects across the Area. Ensures that all assigned projects are executed with high levels of customer satisfaction, completed on time, billed, within budget and within scope of the contract. Maintains profitability goals and positive cash flow.
2\. Assists Connected Technology Install Operations Director, Area Installation Managers, and HVAC Installation Managers in the preparation of Business Plans and Mid-Month forecasts for revenue, executed gross margin, backlog, billings and collections by Local Market team for the HVAC (equipment and controls) and Security and Fire businesses.
3\. Hires and retains, project management staff and plans for career development of direct reports. Prepares and delivers clear performance expectations, performance reviews and development plans for direct reports.
4\. Works with Connected Technology Install Operations Director to ensure that Project Managers and Project Executives develop and adhere to a Project Execution Plan and Cost/Resource Loaded Schedule for each assigned project.
5\. Promotes the securing of change orders and provides overall management of the change order process.
6\. Coordinates with the Regional Field Support Manager and Director of North American Manufacturing Operations to help resolve equipment issues that are elevated above the HVAC Local Market team Operations.
7\. Works collaboratively with Area Management Team and Regional Continuous Improvement Manager to drive compliance, at the Area level and Local Market team level, of Engineering and Execution standards of all installation projects. Additionally, drives reductions in executed MTC cost per point, executed electrical cost per point, and slippage.
8\. Engages and Supports the Regional Field Support Manager to ensure that technical and quality issues are resolved in the Area in a timely manner. Ensures that all product deployments and applicable technical training are scheduled and implemented across the Area.
9\. Works with the Engineering Leader to ensure that Systems Engineering resources are scheduled properly to support specialty work, engineering, software programming and commissioning. Optimizes Major Project engineering productivity.
10\. Ensures compliance with state, local and federal legal requirement and ensures that installation business is conducted with the highest ethical standards.
11\. Works collaboratively with the Regional Safety Manager championing and driving the SSNA Safety Program for employees and subcontractors at all levels in the Connected Technology Installation organization with goals of zero lost time and zero recordable incidents.
12\. Promotes SSNA objectives for workplace and supplier diversity.
13\. Participate in Area Pre-Bid Reviews as assigned to ensure projects are developed to meet all project and specification requirements, sufficient costs are carried needed to perform the work, risks are identified and mitigated and that the execution plan includes sufficient resources to perform the work.
14\. Assign Project Managers as needed to support major project cost development needs. PRODUCTIVITY MEASURMENTS:

What we look for
Bachelors degree in Construction, Civil, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management or Architecture or related degree with a minimum of ten years of progressively more responsible operations management experience in the Building Construction Industry including five or more years of direct project management experience. Minimum 5 years experience supervising direct reports. Proven experience monitoring project financial performance against established budgets. Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills. Strong presentation skills and proficiency in speaking to large audiences. Able to travel up to 50% of time. Strong Personal Computer working capabilities in MS Projects, MS Office (excel, word, power point), Adobe Writer, Visio and basic Windows environment.
