The Machine Programming Research (MPR) group at Intel Labs is seeking a motivated full-time research scientist who has expertise in at least one of the following areas: machine learning, formal methods, programming languages, (hardware and software) systems, and/or machine programming.In this position, you will be responsible for researching and prototyping new machine programming (MP) systems. You will develop state-of-the-art MP systems with the goal of integrating these systems into the open-source community, Intel's and Intel's partners' future products, and Intel's software and hardware processes. You will discover and explore promising new MP technologies typically 3-5 years prior to product development. This requires an understanding of conducting world-class research across MP's multidisciplinary target areas.The ideal candidate would exhibit the below personality traits:Outstanding critical thinking and problem-solving skills.Excellent written and spoken communication skills (demonstration of oral and written communication skills will be tested during the interview process).

Qualifications

You must possess the minimum below requirements to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates. Minimum Requirements: Ph.D. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or other related areas. 3+ lead-authored research publications in tier-1 machine learning, formal methods, programming languages, systems, or machine programming venues (e.g., NeurIPS, ICML, ICLR, MLSys, CAV, PLDI, OOPSLA, CGO, ASPLOS, PACT, ICSE). 3+ years of development experience using prototyping and systems languages (e.g., Python and C++). 2+ years of academic/industry software development experience in ML frameworks such as TensorFlow, PyTorch, Caffe. 2+ years of experience in machine learning, formal methods, programming languages, systems, or machine programming. Additional Preferred Qualifications: Research that demonstrates experience working in the space of the three pillars of MP (https://arxiv.org/abs/1803.07244), such as building systems to understand and express intention, development and discovery of algorithms that can invent solutions using existing or newly constructed components, as well as adapting software systems to more effectively utilize the existing hardware and software ecosystem they are used in.
