What you'll do...

JOB SUMMARY

The IT Operations Manager is accountable for the day-to-day operation and support of H&R Blocks IT services and critical to the shift to DevOps and SRE. S/he will help build the future SRE organizations people, processes and technologies while ensuring current operations and support activities continue to deliver value to the business and H&R Blocks customers.

The IT Operations Manager directs a diverse team of on- and off-shore engineers to operate and support the companys hybrid IT services, which include compute platforms, application hosting platforms, business continuity and disaster recovery services, IT Service Management, monitoring and IT security. S/he also oversees the Network Operations Center team.

The IT Operations Manager has an automate first mindset and is driven to improve the quality of delivered IT services. S/he is data driven and can lead continuous improvement efforts across the organization.

The IT Operations Manager works closely with senior IT staff and decision makers in other departments in order to identify, recommend, develop, implement, and support cost-effective technology solutions for all aspects of the organization.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

* Organize and negotiate the allocation of IT resources
* Ensure efficient utilization of IT resources
* Manage deployment, monitoring, maintenance, upgrade, and support of IT systems
* Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for IT spending and initiatives
* Recommend purchase of equipment and supplies in order to meet operational requirements
* Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for improvement
* Manage staffing, including recruitment, supervision, scheduling, development, evaluation, and disciplinary actions
* Establish and maintain communications with the organizations executives, department heads, and end users regarding pertinent IT activities
* Oversee projects and the project portfolio

QUALIFICATIONS

Education / Experience

* Hands on experience with network and PC operating systems
* Hands on experience with cloud service provider environments
* Hands on experience with modern Infrastructure-as-Code and Configuration Management tools
* Practical knowledge of IT Service Management (ITIL) processes; especially incident, change and problem management
* Knowledge of modern scripting languages, including Ruby, Python, Powershell and JavaScript
* Proven experience in IT infrastructure planning and development
* Knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws
* Strong understanding of human resource management principles, practices, and procedures
* Strong understanding of project management principles

Education:

* Bachelors degree in a related field or the equivalent through a combination of education and related work experience.

Work Experience:

* 7 years related work experience
* Experience administering Windows and Linux servers
* Experience administering VMware and Hyper-V environments
* Microsoft Azure certifications
* Hands on experience with Terraform and Chef
* ITIL certification
* Previous experience leading or working in a Network Operations Center
* Previous experience with BMC Helix or ServiceNow
* Previous experience in the financial or banking industry
* Project management certification such as CAPM, PMP, Agile or Scrum
* Previous experience in a DevOps or SRE culture
