About the Role:

Contributes to Boston Scientifics objectives by ensuring smooth operations within the Arden Hills Model Shop. The primary role includes daily management of high mix, low volume shop, small team of toolmakers and communication with customers and external vendors. Employee will ensure the building of the highest quality prototypes, jigs, tools, fixtures, dies and molds to optimize value for our customers drawing upon years prior experience. The supervisor will prioritize machining and shop duties to resolve line down situations, prototyping, outsourcing and issue resolution. This position will collaborate closely with engineers from the entire BSC network to provide solutions, guidance and be a liaison between all parties.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

This role will consult and report to the Process Development manager as to the departmental goals, budget, and priorities and would require limited guidance. Their daily work is to lead a small team of model makers in the consistent execution of the model shop build, fabrication, spend and maintenance activities. The jobs typically include mold making, die making, CNC/manual machining, lathe work, grinding, maintenance, jig and fixture fabrication which supports various campus tasks such as process development, R&D, operations, complete line replication, additive manufacturing and small parts prototyping. This role will also support in the execution of build/fabrication outsourcing activity through multiple vendors when the shop capacity is fully utilized.

An ideal candidate would have advanced experience (8+ years)/responsibility with the listed below:

* Staff: Review, motivation, retention and work assignment/completion.
* Excellent Communication skills written and verbal.
* Work Order processing (Mfg. Execution Systems), scheduling, and prioritization
* Internal/External job estimation, job assignment, design interpretation, status follow up, work completion and notification.
* Ensure departmental goals are met:efficiency, cost, proper vendor selection, quality, and delivery.
* Materials ordering on as needed basis.
* Proactively troubleshoot, recognize problems related to the fabrication of medical materials into components, parts and fixturing.
* Identifying and improving designs that potentially impact customer needs. Review jobs conduct meetings and ensure customers are informed about progress.
* Meet or beat timelines as well as notification of manager and customer of potential delays.
* Staying within budget and monthly financial spend reporting of their departments.
* Responsible for safe and efficient operation of manual and automatic machines (e.g., mills, lathes, CNCs, grinders, EDMs, presses, saws, drills) to shape parts as outlined in the blueprints or CAD system.

What Were Looking for In You:

Minimum Qualifications:

* 2 Year Technical degree in Tool and Die Making and equivalent/8+ years of experience CNC Machining experience OR 4 Year Engineering degree/5 years of experience in Tool/Die/Mold Making shop
* Experience in low volume and high mix machine/tool/mold/die shop.
* Experience with ERP, MES, scheduling, budgeting and spend tracking.
* Previous supervisory experience. Demonstration of balancing workload between machinist/toolmaker machining time and programming. Assignment of workload to small staff.
* Knowledge of CAM/CNC tool path programming. Knowledge of wide range of medical materials, tool, cutter and hardware needed for job execution
* Able to operate a variety of manual and automatic machines like: mills, lathes, CNCs grinders, EDMs, presses etc. Willingness to collaborate, coordinate and cooperate to get jobs done in an efficient manner
* High Proficiency in CAM/CNC tool path programming. Knowledge of wide range of medical materials, tool, cutter and hardware needed for job execution
* Proficient user Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, etc.)
