The eCommerce Product Director is part of Optum's new Direct-to-Consumer business team. This team sits at the intersection of health care and retail, to support consumers as they assume a greater role in their health and wellness ownership. The Director of Pharmacy Distribution role will be responsible for the design and implementation of a product distribution strategy and roadmap. They will partner across Real Estate, Human Capital, and Finance to expand access to Optum services across the continental US. This includes warehouse design, shipping logistics, resourcing, process engineering, and cost management strategies.
Successful candidates will have demonstrated success leading eCommerce or pharmaceutical distribution strategy, large scale implementations, and lean process design. They will have a deep understanding of pharmacy regulations and FDA guidelines related to product storage and shipping requirements yet be able to design with a consumer-first mindset.

Primary Responsibilities:
* Design, implement and manage a complex, multi-fulfillment capability, balancing consumer satisfaction with cost management needs
* Define and lead development of technology platform and capabilities to automate and manage supporting functions within the process
* Ensure all processes and functions meet, and continue to meet, FDA and Pharmacy accreditation and compliance standards and support required reporting processes to manage and communicate compliance
* Account for logistics to support return receipt and processing that meets FDA and Pharmacy standards
* Establish daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly reporting to track, monitor, manage and respond as needed to processing standards, cycle-times, product expiration, returns, KPI's and other metrics as required to manage the end-to-end logistics process and support continuous improvement
* Collaborate with real estate, technology, procurement, shipping and third-party vendors (as appropriate) to define an executable strategy and logistics model that meets business objectives
* Develop and implement a comprehensive shipper, transportation (and other suppliers as appropriate) performance management program
* Create and implement an end-to-end supply chain dashboard, providing transparency; and lead regular performance reviews with senior management, stakeholder business units, individual warehouse facilities, finance and other key stakeholders
* Foster strong, collaborative relationships with shipping, transportation and equipment companies (plus others as appropriate) to enable a strong negotiation position to support the logistics model, and to prevent and/or resolve hiccups that may arise, quickly
* Build cross-functional, end to end forward looking capacity planning tools and processes to proactively identify and address operational logistics constraints and effectively plan for future growth within the end-to-end process
* Lead and manage warehouse teams supporting logistics functions
* Ensure staffing management and performance monitoring tools in place to ensure coverage and performance monitoring
* Ensure all staff safety protocols are in place, procedures and training are fully documented, performance standards are developed and adhered to and all are FDA and Pharmacy compliant as required

Required Qualifications:
* Minimum of an undergraduate degree
* 6 + years experience in Logistics and/or Supply Chain Management; with a minimum of 3 + years experience specifically within Pharmacy operations
* 3 + years of experience leading continuous improvement initiatives, including demonstrated experience in implementing lean six sigma methodology in a distributed environment
* Experience leading and managing a large, disbursed team
* Possess transformational leadership skills with the ability to articulate a vision of the organization, and to define objectives and time frames essential to realizing strategic goals
* Exceptional collaboration, listening, negotiating, written and verbal communication skills
* Deep understanding of and experience managing a pharmaceutical operation meeting FDA and Pharmacy compliance regulations, licensing and accreditation standards
* Demonstrated ability to influence critical business outcomes in a distributed, multi-location warehouse / facilities environment
* Proven ability to address and solve problems in a creative, innovative, timely, and decisive fashion
* Demonstrated ability to coach others to identify issues, conduct root cause analysis and take corrective actions to sustainably drive results
