The Test Equipment and Environments Center (TE&EC) within the Systems Integration & Test directorate includes all of the engineering disciplines responsible for systems design & test on all RMD products. Our engineers are responsible for all elements of the test development lifecycle including: test requirements, test system design, flight simulations, hardware-in-the-loop systems, computer-in-the-loop systems, advanced engineering prototyping technology, flight operations for manned and unmanned vehicles, environmental testing, environmental characterization and engineering laboratory management. We are hands-on developers, designing with the latest technology and tools, and we integrate state of the art test solutions with the most advanced engineering systems in the world.
The Engineering Prototyping and Fabrication department within TE&EC (also known as the Bike Shop) is seeking an Operations Lead to oversee our engineering prototyping shop operations. They will work with the Electrical, Mechanical, Composites, and Assembly Prototyping and Fabrication shop leads to ensure that work is submitted, estimated and completed correctly, on schedule and on cost. Additionally, they will oversee maintenance and development of our internal shop floor management system (BikeTrax) and interactions with shops outside of the department. The successful candidate will be responsible to ensure that the Bike Shop prototyping operations meet customer expectations for quality, schedule and cost, now and in the future.
U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
Required Education, Skills and Experience:
* Typically requires a related University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
* A minimum of eight (8) years of experience in manufacturing engineering and / or production operations support
* Four (4) years minimum experience leading a production, operation and/or manufacturing group
* Experience implementing shop floor control processes, including two or more of the following: material planning, work estimation and scheduling, work tracking, workmanship verification
* US Citizenship required
Desired Education, Skills and Experience:
* Experience leading prototype or short run/high mix production group(s)
* Experience implementing shop floor management software or systems
* Experience tracking and improving production metrics
* Customer oriented and driven to meet or exceed expectations
* Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cohesively in a diverse teaming environment
* Excellent communication and presentation skills both verbal and written
* Knowledge of basic management approaches such as work scheduling, prioritizing, coaching and process execution.

* Experience with providing guidance and assistance to less experienced professionals and/or support employees.
