Position Overview:

Within General Mills, our manufacturing facilities are committed to achieving zero human and food safety incidents and it is every employee's responsibility to fully support this vision. Skilled Mechanics are hired as members of a manufacturing team. They are responsible for the preventative and reactive maintenance of processing and packaging equipment within the manufacturing facility.

The General Mills Avon plant operates 24 hours per day 7 days per week. Must be willing and able to work all shifts; 7am-3pm, 3pm-11pm, 11pm-7am and weekends. Changes in volume and production requirements can result in changes in work schedule and additional overtime. Industrial Maintenance Mechanics must be willing to work any shift including nights and weekends.

The starting wage for a Industrial Maintenance Mechanic position is $28.02 with annual merit increases based on training. Main Responsibilities:

* Follow all company safety policies and procedures to ensure a safe working environment
* Support production lines by supplying with materials as needed
* Perform various sanitation and clean up duties
* Demonstrate a strong customer service mindset
* Assist operators during bottlenecks or when production lines are shut down
* Participate in start-up, change over and shut down of operating equipment
* Be responsible for executing all required HACCP processes and documentation
* Participate in Continuous Improvement initiatives in order to increase platform performance
* Attend meetings and training as required
* Perform additional related tasks as assigned

Minimum Qualifications:

* Must be 18 years of age or older
* Must have the ongoing right to work in the U.S. without sponsorship
* High School Diploma or GED
* 1-2 years experience in industrial maintenance or equivalent education in a related field
* Proficiency in basic computer skills
* Must be able to lift, move, push, pull 50 lbs as required by the position
* Must be able to perform physical tasks for extended periods of time including: standing, walking, climbing, bending, pushing, squatting, pulling and twisting over surfaces
* Ability to climb and/or work at heights while utilizing stairs, ladders, personnel lifts, or platforms
* Willing and able to work any shift schedule, including nights and weekends, including daily overtime and overtime outside of regular scheduled hours as required (more than 40 hours per week)
* Ability to wear protective clothing and equipment such as safety shoes, face masks, safety glasses, hearing protection, a hard hat, a hair/beard net and gloves when required
* Willing and able to adhere to all grooming requirements necessary for a food manufacturing environment
* Working knowledge of PLCs, HVAC systems, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
* Willing to work around industrial high speed moving machinery
* Ability to work with allergens that might be present in a food environment

Preferred Qualifications:

* Technical degree in industrial maintenance or related field
* Continuing education in maintenance/technical skills
* Computer Maintenance Management System experience
* Demonstrated leadership ability
