Job Title: Fire Alarm Technician II
Job Summary: EMCOR Government Services & Helix Enterprises, under the joint-venture Helix Management Services, has an exciting opportunity at NASA's Armstrong Flight Research Center (AFRC). Located on Edwards AFB - the 2nd largest base in the Air Force - the Fire Alarm Technician II will perform service repairs and testing at NASA's premier site for aeronautical research in Edwards, CA.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
* Performs installation service repairs and testing on electronic fire alarm systems and other related building system products in accordance with manufacture's specifications and National Fire Protection Association standards at NASA sites.
* Service, troubleshoot and install many different manufacturers Fire/Life Safety Systems including Simplex & NOTIFIER.
* Inspect, maintain and test all fire alarm equipment on site, and replaces defective components as needed, test initiating and signal circuits, detectors, and system transmitter, makes needed repairs, and checks pressure gauges on suppression systems, such as wet pipe, dry pipe, deluge, pre-action, Fire water pumps, foam pumps, HI X foam generators, Inergen, Halon, FM 200, storage containers, maintain, test and calibrate gas detection systems/Hydrazine systems.
* Must be able to give complete and accurate NFPA test form and properly make reports of defective alarm equipment and water based systems, for corrective maintenance repairs.
* Read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, submittals, specifications, software/systems programs, schematics and operational product manuals.
* Manage daily call activity and program system products, including networking and programming.
* Maintains, inspect, and replace portable fire extinguishers per NFPA 10 standard for portable fire extinguishers throughout the Center and remote sites.
* Ability to train level I Fire alarm technicians on operation and basic maintenance of the installed fire alarm systems.
* Assist customers with all questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Qualifications:
* Minimum 5 + years experience in the installation and testing of low voltage systems, including Fire/Life Safety systems, Preferred Simplex product knowledge and training and working knowledge of Windows based programs.
* NICET II Certification preferred.
* Must have fundamental knowledge of electricity. (i.e.: Ohm's law, resistance and AC/DC Circuits.)
* Working knowledge of fire alarm systems, both conventional and addressable.
* Knowledge of test equipment, multi-meter, digital analyzer and battery analyzer.
* Knowledge of NFPA Standards and Codes
