Job Description

Eastman Chemical Company is seeking a Shift Utility Mechanic at its Jefferson, PA Site, located approximately 17 miles from downtown Pittsburgh.

Job Description:

* The Shift Utility Mechanic will perform job functions site-wide, assisting the Shift Supervisor and other Operators to carry out assigned duties in a safe, effective manner.
* Activities of the Shift Utility Mechanic must be coordinated to assure efficient performance of the various job functions.
* The employee is required to conduct the job in a safe, secure, and environmentally responsible manner.
* The Shift Utility Mechanic must be able to perform the following major functions:
* Candidate must have previous experience in industrial, mechanical, electrical and commercial piping systems.
* Troubleshoot mechanical operational problems on plant production units and related equipment.
* Disassemble and repair pumps and other mechanical equipment.
* Rebuild pumps (including replacing seals) and other mechanical equipment.
* Perform intermediate level electrician duties (tests electrical voltage of electrical and motor circuits up to 440 volts AC).
* Perform basic welding duties.
* Work a rotating A-B-C-D work schedule.

Qualifications:

* Qualified candidates must have journey certification (or the equivalent in skills and experience) in industrial, mechanical, and electrical maintenance.
* 3-5 years of Maintenance experience working in an industrial, military, construction or other technical environment is preferred.
* Must have a background in welding, piping, and instrumentation, as well as electrical voltage testing of electrical and motor circuits up to 440 volts AC.
* Must have experience with the repair of pumps and other mechanical equipment.
* Must be able to work all shifts and overtime.
* Candidate must be able to demonstrate a history of solid work performance.
* A working knowledge of the following is preferred:
* Handling hazardous materials
* Completing a lock-out/tag-out process
* Laser alignment
* Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
* Experience with the following is preferred:
* Rebuilding pumps and motors
* Reading blueprints
* Precision measuring
* Mig, Tig, Stick Welding
* Auto Mechanics
* Familiarity with basic computer functions such as creating, sending/receiving e-mail & data entry using Microsoft Outlook, Excel & Word is preferred.
* Must be able to perform the essential elements of the positions with or without reasonable accommodations.
* Must follow all safety procedures.
* Must wear company-provided personal protective equipment: safety shoes, long sleeves, glasses with side shields and hard hats at all times in designated areas.
* Dust mask, rubber gloves, face shields, & other protective equipment must be worn when required.
* If required, must work a 12-hour rotating shift schedule. Overtime is required from time to time.
* Have a strong work ethic, demonstrating both initiative and professional attitude.
* Must have clear, concise verbal and written communication skills.
* Must be able to apply mechanical fundamentals to properly operate/maintain the performance of the equipment within area of responsibility
