Job Description

VMWare is designing a visionary new Clustered Operations workflow for managing the ESXi hypervisor on servers and Smart NICs. This requires a re-imagination of how ESXi clusters are managed at scale. There is an urgent need for engineering talent to help the team with implementing this significant transition.

Overview on SDDC: Pioneered by VMware and recognized by the industry and analysts alike, SDDC extends the virtualization concepts you know abstraction, pooling and automation to all data center resources and services. Software-defined data center technology helps attain new levels of infrastructure utilization and staff productivity, significantly reducing both capital expenditures and operating costs. VMware ESXi Server provides platform for running your VMware vSphere environments, allowing you to automate and deliver a virtual infrastructure with confidence. Our team is focused on providing support for Lifecycle operations of ESXi Server.

Roles & Responsibilities

* We are looking for smart engineers to help our team radically redesign and implement the way ESXi hypervisors are managed in terms of clustered operations spanning servers and Smart NICs, with the focus on Quality. * The responsibilities for this role are the following:

* Help in assessing quality of the project deliverables, lead and implement manual and automated tests for innovative new solutions for our domain managing clusters of ESXi hypervisors at scale.

* Participate with the team in technical discussions, architectural decisions and problem-solving exercises, including (but not limited to) test designs, execution and automation plans, CI/CI and pre-checkin pipelines.

* Interact with peers in the team (and outside the team) on issues dealing with our product solution. These interactions may be with Development/test Engineers, interoperability teams, Product Managers, Documentation specialists, Technical Marking etc.

Competencies:

* Bachelors or Masters degree in Engineering
* 5+ years of industry experience working with multi-tier architecture products
* Experience with different operating systems and expertise in Linux based operating systems
* Proficiency in Java and experience with Rest APIs are a must
* Python experience is a big plus
* Experience working on rich test automation frameworks, implementing test automation using Jenkins and other Java based frameworks
* Experience in Data center deployment and exposure to deploy and handle various mix of hardware like servers.
* Familiarity with VMware products and ESXi lifecycle operations would be a big plus
* Initiative to work with teams which might spread across different business units, departments and partners to complete scale/performance testing independently
* Should have passion about quality, deep understanding about the standard methodologies, SDLC/SQLC processes, QE methodologies, detail oriented and good follow through skill.
* Ability to learn about software products by reading manuals, installing and leading various test automation and execution software used in lifecycle of Quality Engineering
* Thorough understanding of build and release engineering
* Strong testing, test automation, debugging and documentation skills
* Be organized, self-motivated and actively handle time and tasks

Key Skills:

* Strong programming skills in one or more languages: Java, python, C
