Your responsibilities may include:
* Working under the supervision of the chief steward
* Cleaning/sanitation duties on the ship such as:
* Cleaning specified decks
* Cleaning the galley area (washing dishes/silverware, cleaning shelves, trash removal, etc.
* Assisting the chief steward and cook/baker in the preparation of meals by retrieving stores and performing basic food preparations (peeling potatoes, cutting fruit, etc.
* Taking orders and serving meals
* Assisting in putting up stores upon arrival of the ship
* Assisting the chief steward and cook/baker as directed
* Mandatory participation in emergency training drills
* Participating as a general support worker and developing a good knowledge of all galley cleaning and sanitation operations/duties noted in the general work description
* Typically works from 0615 to 1300 hours, takes a 2 hour break, and then works from 1500 to 2015 hours (includes 4 overtime hours
Basic/Required:
* Must be legally authorized to work in the United States as a U.S. citizen or national, or an alien admitted as a permanent resident, refugee or asylee
* Passport
* Willing and able (with or without reasonable accommodation to:
* Be away from home for periods in excess of two months
* Push/pull up to 40 pounds
* Lift/carry up to 100 pounds floor to shoulder
* Lift up to 25 pounds floor to overhead

Preferred:
* Associates degree or higher in culinary arts from an accredited institution or foreign equivalent
* 3+ years direct experience in institutional food preparation
* Completion of sanitation class
* Completion of basic safety class
* Previous experience sailing on tanker/ship
* Ability to clearly follow instructions, both written and verbal
* Ability to apply common sense to achieve the desired outcomes according to the company's operating procedures and safety protocols
* Organized, efficient and a methodical problem solver
This position requires you to have a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC card to gain access to secure areas of Maritime Transportation Security Act (MTSA regulated facilities and vessels. Any candidate selected for this position will not be allowed to begin work without a card in hand or proof from the TSA of a card In Production or In Transit.
