Applied Materials is looking to recruit engineers to support its range of Inspection and metrology tools and support a major customer in Oregon. In these positions you will use electron optical tooling to assist our customers in their manufacturing process. In addition you will be a key member of staff developing new solutions to difficult problems and you will play a key role in the development of Applied Materials next-generation metrology, inspection and review solutions targeting sub 7nm needs.

Ideal candidates could have BScs in any of the numerate engineering sciences, Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Materials Science, Optical Engineering, Chemistry augmented by a MSc or PhD with aspects of semiconductor fabrication, electron microscopy, surface science, image analysis, optics in the coursework. Candidates must have good statistics and analysis skills as well as coding (Labview, Matlab, Python).

The people we are looking for are going to be thorough in their analysis of problems and able to communicate problem statements effectively but who are also willing to experiment to independently find solutions, they will be highly organized and able to juggle multiple objectives/deliverables.

Key Responsibilities

Serves as liaison between the customer and the Business Unit for assigned projects, ensuring clear understanding of customer issues and delivery of applicable solutions.

When necessary, works closely with customer to optimize tool performance to meet customer process and integration requirements.

Checks and approves operational quality of system equipment. Instructs customers in the operation and maintenance of the system.

Provides highly visible customer support through the performance of on-site installation, as well as overseeing any necessary diagnoses, troubleshooting, service, and repair of complex equipment and systems.
