CORE RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS

This position is responsible for the supervision of shift operations to ensure the safe, efficient and effective operations of PSP Paint application and manufacturing. The Production Supervisor is accountable for meeting goals related to Safety, Quality, People, Service, Cost, Delivery and Housekeeping Excellence. This position will review operations to ensure attainment of assigned goals and will be responsible for anticipating and taking proactive measures to resolve operational concerns. This position is also accountable for leading an engaged workforce that ensures positive employee relations.

1. Major Tasks Performed:

* Coach, train, discipline, motivate and manage hourly manufacturing employees.
* Promote and maintain positive employee relations and a total quality-working environment with employees.
* Ensure paint application process is effectively executed to meet/exceed customer requirements
* Act as a positive liaison between employees and management.
* Maintain HKE standards for shift and department.
* Meet and/or exceed departmental goals.
* Manage electronic timecards for employees for production and/or payroll.
* Perform annual performance appraisals (OEPA) with each employee.
* Support site safety programs, implement new safety procedures and recommend safety improvements. Assure safety compliance to create and maintain a safe work environment for employees.
* Must be familiar with equipment and operating procedures in order to make educated judgment decisions and recognize defective equipment or substandard product and utilize appropriate resources to resolve.
* Coordinates manufacturing activities to ensure production and quality for products to ensure they meet specifications.
* Revises production schedules and priorities as result of equipment failure, operating problems, personnel, etc.
* Assure all team members are properly trained in critical areas of safety, housekeeping, time management, quality standards and continuous improvement. Transition new team members into the team quickly and efficiently upon assignment.
* Demonstrate leadership that is consistent with Company vision, mission and values.
* Participation towards completion of other related tasks and duties as directed or needed

2. Principal Accountabilities:

* Achieve on time production of goods at or above expected quality in a safe manner.
* Maintain discipline and high morale within the departments.
* Maintain absenteeism at or below expected goal.
* Identify any training gaps with production employees and identify training to fill those gaps.
* Provide direction for subordinates to achieve full individual potential.
* Monitor and ensure compliance to all safety and housekeeping requirements within the department.
* Monitor and ensure compliance with all quality specifications.
* Support and achieve plant, division and corporate goals.
* Manage operating efficiencies in departments.
* Utilize raw materials and equipment efficiently.
* Maintain a positive employee relations environment.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS

1. FORMAL EDUCATION:
1. Required:
1. High School Diploma or GED certificate
* Preferred:
1. Associates or Bachelors Degree, working towards a degree, or willingness to pursue a degree

Basic Qualifications

* Must have the legal right to work in this country
* Must be at least 18 years of age
* Must have one year of experience in a manufacturing, operations or distribution environment.
* Must have experience using MS Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point, or Access).

Minimum Qualifications

* Hands on technical/troubleshooting experience
* Must demonstrate an understanding of the technical aspects of the manufacturing process
* Must be flexible to work alternate shift patterns
* Interpersonal and Leadership skills (outgoing and engaged leadership style)
* Excellent problem solving and analytical skills
* Communication skills
* Ability to adapt to changing priorities
* Strong work ethic and high energy level

Preferred:

* Previous supervisory experience
* Experience with continuous improvement tools such as Six Sigma, 5-S, Lean Manufacturing, Transactional Lean, etc.
* Experience with timekeeping and/or production control systems
* Previous paint application experience is preferred (OEM)
* Six Sigma Certification (Green Belt, Black Belt, Etc.)

2. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

n Must be able to sit, stand, hear, and see on a constant basis.

n Must be able to walk, write, and type on a frequent basis.

n Must be able to lift and carry up to _50_ pounds.

n Must be able to climb and descend stairs.

n Must be able to bend, carry, reach, push, and pull on an occasional basis.

n Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing.

n May work indoors and outdoors as needed. Exposure to heat up to 120 degrees and cold to 0 degrees.

n May work in areas where noise level is such that hearing protection is required.

n May work in areas where toxic, flammable, and hazardous materials are present.

n May be exposed to varying amounts of dust and dirt.

n Work surfaces may include concrete.

n Employee must be able to tolerate non-toxic paint odors and be able to wear a respirator as required.

n Employee must be able to operate a computer and communicate via telephone.

n Some travel to other locations, meetings and/or seminars is required.
