POSITION SUMMARY:
The Medical Assistant position is responsible for administrative duties within the Galveston Bay refinery Medical Department.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Gathers, inputs, generates, reviews, and/or analyzes data.
* Composes, transcribes, prepares and proofreads routine and confidential documents both written and electronic
* Maintains a professional attitude and work ethic in the workplace, focusing on improving quality and knowledge of work, commitment to Company policies and procedures, decision-making abilities and creativity.
* Once certified, performs procedures such as vital sign measurements, blood/urine collection, vaccine administration and other professional services to assist in the administration of required company and medical surveillance programs and physical exams (i.e., Respiratory Protection Plan, Hearing Conservation Plan, Drug & Alcohol Policy, Hazwoper, etc.); schedules employee examinations by local and corporate physicians as required reports examination activities and results to the Office of the Corporate Medical Director.
* Assists in injury care, as directed by treating physician
* Available during regular business hours to assist with the plants emergency response effort.
* Overtime required as necessary outside normal work hours including on-call duties for afterhours emergencies or drug screens.
* Maintains appropriate records control of employee visits to Health Services and other related activities as required by OSHA; maintains all confidential employee medical records.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
* Associates Degree is preferred
* 2 or more years of experience in information technology end-user support required administrative office support: answering phones, ordering supplies, etc. required
* Minimum of 2 years experience in an occupational health setting performing procedures such as vital sign measurements/vaccine administration, etc. preferred
* Certified CMA or equivalent required.
SKILLS:
* Must be certified or willing to be certified in CPR, audiometric testing and spirometry, DOT drug screen collection (breath alcohol testing and hair collection).
* Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and other software as assigned.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills]
* Must be able to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects weighing up to 20 pounds
