As our Cloud Engineering Principal, you will assist our customers by architecting, developing and re-engineering applications that can fully leverage the Cloud. You will be a hands-on senior technical leader helping to accelerate our Cloud journey by partnering with Capital Group’s application and engineering teams to exploit innovative technologies to accelerate competitive business initiatives. You will conceive of and work on a variety of game changing projects, at the forefront of application development and cloud technology adoption. You will ensure our applications are cloud optimized by leading the architectural vision and development of cloud tooling that enables them to reap the benefits of elasticity, horizontal scalability, automation and high availability
You will leverage engineering best practices to provide executive level technology leadership for building out Capital Group’s hybrid Cloud solutions to drive key business initiatives. Experience, passion, and intellectual curiosity with a bias for driving architecturally sound decisions with well-engineered solutions is critical for success. You will foster an environment of agile thinkers that will drive application optimization through DevOps practices like infrastructure as code, continuous integration and automated deployment. You will focus on a portfolio of tools and services that will make Capital Group’s journey to the Cloud fast and effective. You will identify architectural and process bottlenecks, propose actionable plans to address them, and lead the implementation of simple and cost-effective solutions. You will identify, evaluate, and prioritize technology investments to accelerate building in the Cloud.
In this role, you will need to manage cross-functional communication to build consensus, identify and mitigate risks to efficient delivery, deconstruct ambiguous problems into straightforward solutions, prioritize competing opportunities, and drive understanding for engineering teams as well as the executive layer.
Qualifications:
You have at least 10 years of platform architecture/engineering or system engineering with at least 4-5 most recent years of experience in distributed computing or cloud computing platforms
You have both strategic planning and hands on experience with AWS and other leading Cloud providers such as Azure and GCP
You have experience in executive technology leadership that drives innovation and adoption with business acumen and data driven decision making
You have experience with modern application development platforms and methodologies, both Cloud Native and traditional to include CI/CD tool sets, Agile/DevOps practices, and Application Architectures
You have experience incorporating Security, Scalability, Availability, and SRE practices into solutions
You have deep technology and engineering skills and experience, comfortable with topics spanning programming languages, ML/AI, advanced networking, compute and data platforms as well application development patterns, automation, and big data while leading the technology team through adoption
You have deep experience working as both an infrastructure and full stack application development specialist
You have proven experience developing technology roadmaps and identifying and cultivating innovative technology solutions
You have clear and persuasive written and oral communication skills to lead fellow practitioners and influence executives
You have a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related technical field
