Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Denver, PA distribution center and TSMs. Directly supervises Security TSMs (Security Officers) and when applicable, contracts security services; hires, trains, develops and holds accountable. Conducts performance reviews, recommends wage increases, monitors attendance, manages payroll and recommends and administers corrective action when applicable. Acts as chairperson for the facilitys Safety Committee; responsible for driving awareness and meeting safety implementation goals on an annual basis. Responsible for maintaining accurate records for all training events (regulatory, security and safety), accident/injury incidents, equipment accident incidents, inventory discrepancies and investigative reports. Maximizes relationships with DC Operations and Human Resources business partners to effectively create and foster a safe and secure culture within the DC. Manages operational, security and safety audits on a daily, weekly and monthly basis; responsible for ensuring any non-compliant issues are identified and corrected. Serves as the primary / lead investigator for matters occurring in the United States requiring investigation (ex.: fraud and theft) as directed by Corporate Security management. Serves as the direct liaison with up to 3 remote U.S. facilities regarding security and safety and is responsible for the oversight and management of applicable security and safety measures at those facilities. Remains on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for all burglar and fire alarm activations and other pertinent issues that may occur.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES & ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the Denver, PA distribution center and TSMs (Team Schein Members) which includes but is not limited to the following:

* Facilitates New Hire Orientation Security and Safety Training to all TSMs.
* Maintains an accurate record of all facility damages, injury accidents, near misses, unsafe acts and conditions, violations of the company forklift policy, violations of the company Safety Rules and policies.
* Conducts monthly, quarterly, semi annual and annual training to these effects.
* Enforces and recommends disciplinary action for all TSMs who violate security or safety policies.
* Ensures that bimonthly facility safety inspections are conducted and follows up to ensure all problems are corrected.
* Maintains awareness and understanding of how the Security Department impacts customers, both internal & external, and the departments overall impact on the operation.
* Ensures that security audits pertaining to operational areas (i.e., shipping, receiving, drug cage, and material handling) are performed weekly.
* Drives security and safety awareness through monthly meetings, recognition, annual Safety Day events, etc.
* Works with Human Resources and Operations to create and implement action plans targeted to reduce risk and frequency of accidents and equipment accidents.
* Networks and acts as a liaison with outside law enforcement and emergency response agencies - as well as industry organizations.
* Manages all security and safety systems which include burglar alarm, fire alarm and sprinkler, CCTV systems, access control and perimeter key control.
* Conducts alarm tests, maintains relationship with local representatives for alarm company; oversees maintenance and recommends updates/changes etc.
* Responds to, and / or manages all alarm situations.
* Remains on call 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for all burglar and fire alarm activations.
* Conducts investigation into all inventory discrepancies occurring at the facility based off of daily reporting as well as intelligence gathered from TSMs, pilferage found, etc.
* Conducts investigations into any dishonesty within the DC and works with Human Resources and Corporate Security to resolve.
* Maintains accurate reporting in Incident Reporting System.
* Chairs a monthly Safety Committee meeting with management and TSMs to discuss safety issues and make recommendations for corrections as well as ensuring the facility works in the safest manner.
* Responsible for meeting annual safety implementation goals and driving awareness within facility.
* Responsible for maintaining accurate records for: OSHA regulatory documentation and training records for all forklift operations.
* Manages and participates in Spill Team - responding to all spills and managing hazardous material spills within the DC. Reviews and revises as necessary the records of the Henry Schein Inc. Emergency Response Plan, controlled drug room policies and procedures, OSHA Bloodborne Pathogens standard, OSHA respiratory program and the OSHA Lockout/Tag out program.
* Manages and participates in the First Aid Team - responding to any and all workplace accidents or injuries.
* Serves as the primary / lead investigator for matters of theft, fraud, etc., that occur in the U.S.A. (outside core DCs) as assigned by Corporate Security management. Conducts investigations, interviews applicable victims, witnesses and suspects. Documents ongoing work and prepares necessary reports. Serves as the liaison with law enforcement as required in these matters.
* Responsible for security and safety efforts at up to 3 remote facilities. Serves as the primary Security liaison with these facilities. Visits each at least annually and conducts a review / audit of compliance with established standards.
* Conducts, at the direction of the VP of Global Security & Safety, remote site visits to facilities (approximately 1 per month) in order to evaluate, report and recommend enhancements to security and safety related disciplines. Conducts follow-up on all deficiencies and recommended enhancements to ensure prompt follow through on open issues or recommendations.
* Provides a monthly report to the Director of Security - North America, detailing all pertinent activities that have occurred in the month concerning any safety and security issues.

In addition to the essential duties and responsibilities listed above, all positions are also responsible for:

* Meeting company standards pertaining to quantity and quality of work performed on an ongoing basis, performing all work related tasks in a manner that is in compliance with all Company policies and procedures including WorldWide Business Standards.
* Adhering to Company policies, procedures, and directives regarding standards of workplace behavior in completing job duties and assignments.

Qualification

Experience:

Minimum of 5 years security, safety, loss prevention or law enforcement experience in a supervisory capacity.

Education:

High school diploma or the equivalent required. College degree preferred.

Specialized Knowledge and Skills:

Previous experience in a warehouse or distribution environment. Basic knowledge of safety inspections and burglar and fire alarm systems. Significant experience conducting theft / fraud investigations essential. High degree of integrity, self-motivation, adaptability, and ability to learn quickly and handle multiple tasks.

Other:

Certification as First Aid Responder and Hazardous Materials Spill Team Member. (Training to be provided by Henry Schein, Inc.)
