Job Description

We are seeking a versatile and passionate lab manager to design and manage the operations of the hardware labs. You must be able to work independently, demonstrate a high attention to detail, be customer-oriented, and possess strong problem-solving skills. You must be a self-starter, well-organized and have excellent communication skills. Our team is constantly evolving and we are seeking someone who is motivated to improve the effectiveness of our tools and processes from each project to the next. This is a unique opportunity to join our team and create lab infrastructure to help our engineers solve complex problems at massive scale. This is a full-time position within the Infrastructure Hardware Engineering team.

Lab Manager Responsibilities

* Collaborate with the real estate and construction teams from site selection to the architecture and build out of multiple hardware lab environments.

* Own end-to-end daily operations tasks to keep the labs running efficiently.

* Manage the use of hardware lab spaces, operating spaces, and test unit deconfliction and scheduling of services and resources.

* Primary interface with the supply chain organization for all material and equipment procurement.

* Manage all logistics, security, badging, inventory activities across the labs. Manage visitors and conduct lab tours.

* Build and manage the lab services offerings, including planning activities and staffing the right resources for test and technician services such as inspection, soldering, PCB rework, logistics, and operating all machinery/equipment for customer teams.

* Manage calibration and maintenance activities for all instruments and equipment on a regular interval.

* Drive continuous improvement in the lab with both processes and people.

* Manage parts inventory of all supplies, material, and equipment and maintain everything in good working order.

* Coordinate shipping and receiving to the labs and work closely with logistics to ensure project materials are appropriately tracked and stored.

* Maintain the lab spaces in a clean, organized, and uncluttered way.

* Work with the EH&S team to ensure we are in compliance with all regulations, to improve safety, and to reduce risk wherever possible.

* Work with CorpNet and network administrators to set up and debug network issues, imaging servers, and software upgrades.

Minimum Qualifications

* Bachelor of science degree in a technical field.

* Experience building hardware labs, with specific experience in managing electrical, mechanical, and thermal test and measurement systems.

* Demonstrated experience operating in a high-tempo operational environment. Demonstrated experience driving lots of simultaneous tasks to completion.

* Experience with procurement (SOWs, POs, contracts, and finance).

* Proven communication, computer, and project management skills.

* Familiarity with basic network architectures.

Preferred Qualifications

* 3+ years of experience with lab processes and operations.

* Experience with high power loads, liquid cooling technologies, and precision measurement equipment.

* Experience managing large scale server or data center operations.

* Experience with machine shop and mechanical manufacturing equipment.

* Experience working with highly technical engineering teams.
