Garnet Health (formerly Greater Hudson Valley Health System,) is a New York State, not-for-profit corporation headquartered in Middletown, New York, approximately 60 miles north of New York City. Garnet Health is comprised of Garnet Health Medical Center, Garnet Health Medical Center - Catskills, Garnet Health Doctors, Garnet Health Foundation and Garnet Health Foundation - Catskills. Responsibilities
The role and responsibility of the Sterile Processing Technician is to ensure that sterile supplies, instruments and equipment are properly inventoried, decontaminated, inspected, assembled, packaged, sterilized ,stored, distributed and tracked in quality/ timely manner .
Qualifications
Minimum Education for Sterile Processing Technician:
High school graduate with current certification in Sterile Processing.
Minimum Experience:
At least 6 months experience in Sterile Processing preferred;
Basic computer skills, anatomy and medical terminology required.
Required Certification/Registration:
Sterile Processing Technician Certification.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged standing and walking much of the day. Often has to lift and carry supplies and trays weighing up to 25-40 lbs. and may be called upon to push heavy supply carts through hospital corridors. In addition, performs decontamination, assembly and stocking procedures within the organization
Working Conditions:
Works in an area with no outside exposure; area is air-conditioned; frequent exposure to water and cleaning solutions; exposure to contaminated items limited by use of protective clothing & equipment (provided); exposure to sterilizing chemicals within legal limits. Contact with co-workers, nursing staff, surgical staff and obstetrical technicians, etc. No direct patient contact.
