The Specialty Materials segment manufactures products that provide more than 150 material formulations for glass, glass ceramics and fluoride crystals to meet demand for unique customer needs. Consequently, this segment operates in a wide variety of commercial and industrial segments that include display optics and components, semiconductor optics components, aerospace and defense, astronomy, ophthalmic products, telecommunications components and cover glass that is optimized for portable display devices.
Purpose of Role:
Performs maintenance, installation, construction, remodeling, major overhauls and repairs to all types of plant facilities and equipment.
Maintains production machinery and equipment requiring the use of trades and mechanics tools such as:
* Drill press, grinder, welder, saws, pipe threader, cutting torch, belter, shear, bending brake, fork lift truck, hand tools, etc.
* Demonstrates competency in the following areas:
* Machine maintenance and repair
* Rigging equipment and handling
* Installation of machinery and equipment
* Pipefitting
* Cutting and welding
* Sheet metal working
* General Carpentry
Day to Day Responsibilities:
* Performing various maintenance tasks on plant facilities and equipment.
* Maintains satisfactory attendance, to include timeliness.
* Responsible for understanding and following applicable quality, environmental and safety regulatory consideration.
Required Education & Experience:
* New York State Journeyman card in applicable trade is required.
* Minimum of 4 years experience is required for this position.
* Experience in manufacturing maintenance is desired.
* Must be willing to work off shifts (2nd and/or 3rd)
