Qualified OR Techs hired for full-time or part-time positions in the Main Operating Room

$7,500.00 ($3,750 after 6 months; $3,750 after 12 months of employment)

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Certified OR Tech is a member of the surgical team in the operating room who acts as the primary scrub person who handles instruments, supplies and equipment necessary, prior to and during the surgical procedure. It provides technical assistance during procedures in the operating and pain rooms. Provides patient care within the prevailing national and state standards of practice and the policies of the facility. May have additional responsibilities as designated by the Nurse Manager which include, but are not limited to, providing patient care in other areas.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities:
Checks supplies and equipment needed for surgical procedures
Scrubs, gowns, and gloves are complete
Sets up sterile table with instruments, supplies, equipment, and medications/solutions needed for procedures.
Performs appropriate counts with circulator prior to the operation and before incision is closed.
Helps in draping sterile field.
Passes instruments, etc., to surgeons during procedures.
Maintains highest standard of sterile technique during procedures.
Prepares sterile dressings.
Cleans and prepares instruments for terminal sterilizations.
Assists other members of team with terminal cleaning of rooms.
Assists in prepping room for the next patients.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:

The OR Tech will have an understanding of the procedures being performed and anticipates the needs of the surgeon. He/she has the necessary knowledge and ability to ensure quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/LICENSURE/TECHNICAL/OTHER:

Education: High School diploma
Experience: 1 year surgical experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure: Surgical technologists are required to complete an accredited educational program for surgical technologists and hold and maintain a certified surgical technologist credential administered by a nationally recognized surgical technologist certifying body accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies and recognized by the American College of Surgeons and the Association of Surgical Technologists
