Ashland has an exciting opportunity for an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer to join our Specialty ingredients G.P. business at our Parlin, NJ location. This is a very visible, significant role within the Company and the Plant Operations function. This position will report to the Production Supervisor.
The responsibilities of the position include, but are not limited to, the following:
* Play a key role insuring plant regulatory and safety compliance by management of Instrumentation and Control aspects of Natrosol manufacturing operation including PSM compliance and Safety control systems.
* Owner of the plant Piping & Instrument Diagrams (P&IDs). This includes but is not limited to red lining drawings for any plant changes, drafting or finding drafting support to make the necessary changes, performing annual reviews of the P&IDs.
* Owner of the plants Cybersecurity Program.
* Owner of the plant Emerson Delta V Distributed Control System (DCS) and Emerson Micromotion equipment. This includes but is not limited to configuration of the equipment in Delta V, programming of core processors as required, firmware updates of core processors and transmitters as required, and control of the physical inventory and spares.
* Own the controls portion of small plant projects and larger capital projects. This would include, but is not limited to the specification of equipment, the purchasing of equipment, the scheduling of installations, and the engineering documentation for plant files and troubleshooting.
* Own control and ownership of Preventative Maintenance Routines for Critical Interlocks. Engineer will need to understand how to bypass equipment for testing so that no systems trip during a functional test.
* Works with the I&E Technicians on site to troubleshoot various field issues. Engineer is required to be on call and respond to off hour issues with the control system where production or safety is impacted.
* Utilizes experience and expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance methods, Process Safety Management and Mechanical Integrity to ensure safe and productive operations and equipment suitability.
* Other duties as needed to insure safe and compliant operation of production
In order to be qualified for this role, you must possess the following:
* BS Engineering (Chemical, Controls, Mechanical, or Electrical preferred)
* 3+ Years chemical and/or refining industry experience working with Delta V
* Relevant military experience will be considered
The following skill sets are preferred by the business unit:
* Knowledge and experience of how to trouble shoot instrumentation & controls issues
* Knowledge in AutoCad
* Emerson Delta V experience and programming ability
* PLC Experience
* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (both oral and written) with the ability to effectively interact and communicate with all departments and levels of the organization; experience in a union environment
* Proactive, self-motivated and demonstrate ability to handle multiple projects, changing priorities and frequently heavy workloads which may require work in addition to normal working hours
* Think clearly and solve multifaceted problems in the field with personnel of various degrees of skill levels, education and training.
* Experience in a PSM covered process
