The position of Quality Control Research Associate is within our Infectious Disease Developed Markets business unit located at Carlsbad, CA. In this role you will work within the established Quality Management System while performing Quality Control (QC) testing and when developing new QC methods. Will also be responsible for executing SOPs, proving technical reports, as well as troubleshooting. In addition, the research associate will participate in new QC method design, specification setting and validation studies. The position requires a solid knowledge of scientific principles and theories, as well as a demonstration of proficiency in molecular biology techniques. Will also have opportunities to work with other functions including assay development and technology development teams, as well as other department such as reagent manufacturing. RESPONSIBILITIES: \- Conduct QC tests following test protocols and procedures in compliance with quality system \- Perform QC tests independently \- Participate in QC method development and validation studies \- Work as a member of a QC team, as well as on independent development projects \- Identify basic technical issues, out-of-specifications test results, instrument malfunctions and method issues \- Support laboratory investigations \- Perform laboratory support functions and maintain work area in compliance with quality procedures. \- Participate in continuous improvement efforts using continuous improvement tools \- Prepare buffers and reagents \- Maintain all related data and records in compliance with quality procedures \- Participate in the creation of technical reports, Protocols and SOPs \- Complete the volume of work required to achieve group/departmental goals and meet deadlines. \- Demonstrate great attention to details. \- Communicate the status of operations and bring deviations to the attention of supervisor. \- Perform routine troubleshooting. \- Keep complete, legible, current, and accurate records of all results and procedures followed or performed in a laboratory notebook where required \- Contribute to support functions of the lab (e.g., maintain equipment, re-stock lab supplies, waste disposal). \- Present project updates at group meetings \- Demonstrate technical proficiency in molecular techniques BASIC QUALIFICATIONS: \- B.S. in biology, biochemistry, chemistry, microbiology or a related field is required \- Hands-on experience in molecular biology is required \- Excellent analytical and troubleshooting capabilities \- Ability to work as part of a team with excellent communication skills \- Experience working under design control and following GLP \- Understanding of the procedures, processes and record keeping \- Experience in QC method development is desired \- Hands-on experience with PCR, RT-PCR and quantitative PCR assay development and optimization a plus \- Must have the ability to follow instructions with great attention to details, and work well in a team setting.
