We have an exciting opportunity for a Higher Education Technical Manager within our Abbott Rapid Diagnostics Infectious Disease (ARDx- IDDM) business. In this role, the incumbent will report to the Director, Field Technical Operations with a dotted line to the National Strategic Business Sales Director. This field-based position is responsible for direct supervision of part of the Technical Consultant team. Functionally direct, coach, train, develop and retain Technical Consultant team members. Sets standards and monitors performance; provides performance feedback; writes and conducts appraisals of employees. Position is responsible for promoting a collaborative and innovative culture focusing on the customer experience. Position will support field product implementation and training operations and also serve as a technical expert for purposes of driving ARDx- IDDM business objectives. Performance will be assessed using, the On-TRACC program, customer satisfaction, National Strategic Business Sales Director for Higher Education, Marketing Teams, Regional Directors and Scientific Affairs satisfaction as well as other relevant criteria. Requires at least 50% travel, occasionally with less than a weeks notice. Some weekend travel may be required. RESPONSIBILITIES \- Provide consistent leadership, direction and vision for the Technical Consultant team. \- Create strong morale and spirit in his/her team; shares wins and successes; fosters open dialogue; encourages team to be responsible for their work; defines success. \- Establish and support clear expectations for the Technical Consultant team pertaining to field direction, documentation, Salesforce.com, etc. and holds team accountable. \- Lead the Technical Consultant new hire process and partners with Field Coaches and National Trainer to ensure all new hire training needs are being met and new employee is meeting expectations and being supported throughout the training phase. \- Demonstrate ability to delegate appropriately. \- Assess employees in development needs; assist employees in development plans. Establishes the motivational climate for the staff. \- Demonstrate strong service orientation and focus, using skills in customer service methods and techniques; communicates effectively, professionally and respectfully; builds productive working relationships internally and externally. \- Interface with customers and understands concerns, escalates consistently stated needs appropriately. \- Performs Quarterly Assessment data review and coaches Technical Consultant on areas for growth. Additionally analyzes team data for trends identifying successes and opportunities for improvement. \- Maintain and manage time and travel within set corporate guidelines and policy as established using best business practice as directed by Manager. \- Obtain certification within the Vendor Credentialing requirements by being in compliance with current immunizations, required training, background checks and competency assessments as applicable. \- Regularly reviews and determines if customer training material format and content are complete and continuing to meet training objectives. \- Perform other duties and projects as assigned. BASIC QUALIFICATIONS \- Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology or Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university or directly equivalent experience. \- Registered Medical Technologist or Registered Nurse in state of residence or directly equivalent licensure. \- Minimum 5 years work experience in the Diagnostic Industry, Clinical Laboratory, POCC/ Supervisor, Nursing or other related medical field. \- At least one year of related implementation or Point-of-Care-Testing experience. \- Proficient in computer operation including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook in addition to .pdf files. \- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, including a demonstrated ability to clearly and effectively teach complex subjects to a diverse audience. \- Ability to work with a variety of people on multiple tasks is critical. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS \- Minimum 1 to 3 years supervisory experience directly or indirectly managing others. \- Proven ability to motivate and lead individuals, groups and organizations. \- Management, supervisory, or POCC experience preferred. \- Advanced degrees and/or Sales experience preferred. \- 2 years Technical Consultant experience or diagnostic industry equivalent. \- Strong knowledge of the diagnostic industry. \- Proven excellence in customer service, training and troubleshooting skills. Familiarity with infectious disease, point-of-care testing, hospital and physician office lab settings is highly desirable. \- Demonstrated ability to lead large projects with minimal guidance on time and with a high level of customer satisfaction. \- Proficiency in PowerPoint with formal presentation experience.
