Work Hours/Shift: Full Time 8a 5p M-F

You Will Be Responsible For:

The Bookkeepers primary responsibilities include posting daily, weekly, and monthly journal entries to the financial statements of the hospital and/or entities. The Bookkeeper is responsible for reviewing and approving financial transactions initiated outside of accounting. Each month, there is a financial statement close process, and the Bookkeeper must meet all related deadlines. During the remaining portion of each month, the Bookkeeper will work on various projects, which may include reconciling all assigned balance sheet classes, maintaining and updating subsidiary ledgers and databases, preparing and submitting forms related to tax, corporate, regulatory and community benefits. The Bookkeeper actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Demonstrates, through behavior, Advent Healths core values of Integrity, Compassion, Balance, Excellence, Stewardship and Teamwork.

2. Prepares routine Journal Entries for all assigned financial classes, cost centers, and entities. Processes financial transactions, including IDTs, AHS transfers, miscellaneous accounts receivable, accounts payable for entities, gift shop, fixed asset tags, cash posting, and others.

3. Supports the monthly close process, always meeting deadlines, and getting answers for questionable amounts.

4. Routinely reconciles assigned balance sheet classes to a lead schedule and reports issues to department leaders.

5. Approves purchases and payments, review accounts payable batches, physician payments, petty cash, deposits, fixed asset purchases, entity accounts payable, and others.

6. Assists with external and internal audits; assisting with schedules, explanations and backup.

7. Maintains subsidiary ledgers and databases, accounts receivable, physician contracts, petty cash, fixed assets, and others.

8. Completes all assigned regulatory, tax, community benefit, budget, and AHS forms on time and accurately.

9. Prepares all accounts receivable billing, cash receipting and reporting.

10. Performs other duties as assigned, to ensure the smooth operation of the department.

Qualifications
What you will need:

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

Familiar with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, with a complete understanding of double entry accounting and an operational understanding of routine accounting functions.

Working knowledge of personal computer applications and spreadsheet analysis.

Ability to handle a large number of tasks and projects at one time.

Ability to communicate well orally and in writing and proven analytical and organizational abilities.
