JOB DESCRIPTION *
ABM, is looking for a talented, motivated and detail oriented individual to oversee the Campus Grounds at a forward thinking, growing higher education collage in Charlotte, North Carolina.
The qualified individual for this position should have at least five years of grounds experience in a Higher Education environment. Associates Degree preferred. A North Carolina Certified Commercial Pesticide License or the ability to acquire one within 6 months of hire is a mandatory requirement.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to, the management of all personnel and grounds, up to and exceeding the satisfaction of the client.
Job Summary: This is a position that requires minimal supervision and physical labor associated with ground management. Supervise, oversee and coordinate all phases of landscape & grounds management including ornamental landscape, lawn, irrigations systems, parking lot maintenance, snow / ice removal, equipment maintenance and repair and other tasks assigned by the Director of Facilities. Creates, reviews, and assigns work orders to crews, develops and manages annual operating budget - handles all procurement within grounds management. Provide recommendation on employee evaluations, professional development and discipline. The grounds manager will in harmony with director and facilities services management to assure quality and safety for all.

Major Duties:
(Essential Functions):
Develop and implement schedules for the management of ornamental landscapes, lawns, sports fields, parking lots, and grounds equipment.
Develop and implement inclement weather or natural disaster plans. This includes snow and ice removal, hurricane, tornado or flood occurrences.
Insure performance of all work in a safe manner for the employees and those exposed to the environment.
Special function set up and takes down as directed by director and CPCC facilities services management.
Maintain records for all work and services performed including rigid records for pesticide applications.
Maintain financial records of all expenditures within the department.
Perform quality performance inspections routinely - develop action plans for any deficiencies and implement said plan. Maintain active records of all inspections / action plans and follow up actions correct deficiencies.
Remain informed and current in grounds management functions and codes for local, state and federal governments - this may include light travel to ensure that proper training is received.
Be a visionary and mentor in the development of new methods, procedures, and techniques in grounds management.
Develop business plan and an annual budget for grounds management operation - submit to general manager.
Ensure that campus / company policies, procedures and ethics are adhered to.
Run, repair and maintain all grounds irrigation system.
Endorse team concept across disciplines.
Minimum Requirements

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS *
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
Must have valid drivers license and the ability to drive a truck with a trailer.
Ability to effectively communicate, with the team and upper management.
Strong commitment to high level service and quality standards.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to coach, motivate, develop and lead a team.
Ability to plan, organize, direct and delegate.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Strong sense of urgency; self-directed.
Prefers experience supervising grounds keeping services in an educational environment.
Must be dedicated, determined, have desire and dependable.
Arborist Certification (Preferred)
Commercial Pesticide License or the ability to acquire one within 6 months of hire is a mandatory requirement.
A criminal background check, results of which are not necessarily a bar to employment, and a drug screen are required.
Communication
Maintain effective communication (oral and written) with the school and ABM facilities management and higher.
Promotes awareness of program to all users including Alumni and visitors to campus. Implements an active stewardship program for employees.
