Job Description

As the Science and Technology Research Chemist, you will be focused on research & development of novel liquid crystal (LC) materials for coatings which involves idea generation, development, scale-up, production in plant and establish supply chain.

Key Responsibilities

* Design and synthesis of novel liquid crystal materials which help to achieve desired product performance.
* Develop and optimize new routes to synthesis of unique liquid crystal materials.
* Establish structure-properties relationship of liquid crystal materials and maintain liquid crystal material databases.
* Communicate with formulation team and other team members frequently to find the best path forward.
* Scale up and optimize the process for selected liquid crystal materials.
* Set up quality control of selected liquid crystal materials.
* Technical support to production in plant.
* Establish supply chain.

Job Qualifications

* Ph. D in liquid crystal synthesis and characterization, organic chemistry, polymer chemistry, material synthesis or other related fields with 0-5 years experience in the industry or equivalent post-doctoral work and demonstrated success in the field of LC molecule synthesis and characterization.
* Strong knowledge and experience in the design and synthesis of LC materials and characterizations.
* Familiarity with equipment used in LC material or relevant material synthesis and characterizations.
* Strong knowledge or experience in LC physics, optical properties, LC alignment and LC device.
* Strong knowledge of polymer and monomer synthesis and familiarity with organic chromophores.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills
* Ability to perform in a team environment and be a self-starter in this rapidly growing multi-disciplinary group.
