Overview

HarperCollins is seeking an experienced SQL Server professional to join their centralized Data Management team, which encompasses an enterprise-wide scope in terms of managing, surfacing and controlling corporate data assets and providing technical support for data access, data definition and data management.

This person will code and analyze SQL Servers programs that support both software applications as well as those used in data warehousing/analysis. This will involve working with business analysts and other PMO partners to develop and execute data migration plans, administer data management procedures and support and rectify daily operational production issues. It will also involve working closely with software developers to optimize database and query performances.

This position reports to the Manager, SQL Systems, working closely with the PMO and business teams.

Responsibilities

* The essential responsibility of this developer is to analyze/create/debug views, functions, triggers and stored procedures using SQL, while coordinating with other Software development teams. This requires strong knowledge and experience with modern SQL Server technology (prefer SQL 2016 and higher), as well as strong knowledge of SQL Server internals with an emphasis on how to optimize query performance.
* Additionally, strong knowledge of database, scripting in C, with or without the use of SSIS (is a plus), will be required for the purposes of data extraction, manipulation, and transformation.

* The selected candidate should be willing to work on production issues which may require availability after business hours (either remotely or in person).

Qualifications

* Experience with MS SQL Server.
* Good understanding about BI environment, using SQL Cubes and power BI

* Technical fluency in all phases of the data management lifecycle.

* Demonstrated proficiency with database programming using T-SQL, as well as scripting using C focused on data manipulation and transformation.

* Experience in designing and creating complex SSIS based programs is a plus.
