Group Description:
The Jefferies Strategic Equity Transactions Group (“SETG”) is a newly-created team that will create, originate and execute structured equity transactions for our global clients. Our team partners with the firm’s investment banking industry coverage professionals as well as sales and trading to deliver customized transactions. Transactions include structured hedging and monetizations of equity stakes, structured financings, share repurchase alternatives, stakebuilding variations, among others. Transactions are strategic in nature and generally coincide with an M&A event or a capital raise. In these transactions, Jefferies acts in an agency or principal capacity. As principal, Jefferies will commit capital and assume the risk of the transaction, creating a more rigorous learning experience for the applicant.
Position: SETG is actively looking for an experienced Associate for our New York office.
Primary Responsibilities:
Pricing, marketing and execution of U.S. structured equity transactions
Execution of deals includes structuring, negotiation of legal documents and coordination of internal approvals
Examine the strategic and financial merits of proposed transactions including tax, accounting, and cost of capital impact for the client and for Jefferies
Ability to manage a range of non-standard and one-off assignments
Respond to client inquiries and manage ongoing client relationships
Research potential targets, markets and sector trends
Attend client meetings across the U.S. with senior bankers
Develop and maintain relationships with investment bankers, internal control functions, and sales and trading teams
Qualifications
Minimum Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent); preferred Math, Engineering, Computer Science, Finance or Accounting related studies
Understanding of capital markets and previous experience in structured products is preferred
Strong financial and analytical skills essential
Rigorous eye for detail
Ability to multi-task
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (written and spoken)
Good time management and organizational skills
Insightful, reasoned and a self-starter
Desired Experience / Skills:
Knowledge of financial products and modelling preferred
