Accountemps is looking for an efficient, accurate Staff Accountant to fill a position at a growing Marketing/PR firm. Located in the Dallas, Texas region, the organization offering this long-term temporary-to-full-time opportunity provides rewards to those who dedicate extra effort in the work place. As Staff Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing monthly and year-end closings, journal entries, fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, and general ledger reconciliation. A very involved position, this role produces Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, you will be responsible for many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.

Major responsibilities

- Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP

- Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments

- Be a part of various department-wide initiatives

- Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested

- Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner

- Manage capital lease and monthly payment schedules

- Play a role in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation

- Oversee the creation of monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses for reporting to management

- Carry out month end close, journal entries, without supervision

- Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation

Requirements

- Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines

- Recent and relevant accounting experience

- Skilled with ERP systems

- Demonstrated analytical abilities, tendency to quickly connect dots and surmise logical outcomes

- Strong familiarity with account reconciliation

- Well-founded grasp of account reconciliation

- Bank reconciliations experience

- Experience with Microsoft Excel

- Good understanding of journal entries

- Quality experience with Accounts Receivable (AR)

- Expertise in Great Plains (GPAC)

- Proven knowledge of Bank Account Reconciliation

- Solid understanding of Posting Journal Entries

- Prior experience with Month-end Journal Entries

- Hands-on experience with Monthly Journal Entries

- Wide ranging experience with Maintain Vendor Files

- Skills in Journal Entry

- Experience with Post Journal Entries

- Proficiency in Microsoft Great Plains Accounting

- Earlier work involving Maintain Vendor Files

- General familiarity with Daily Reconciliation

- General ledger experience

- Bank Account Reconciliation experience

- Comprehensive knowledge of Accounts Payable (AP)

- Comprehension of Journal Entry Preparation

- Solid understanding of University Degree

- Previous experience working with General Journal

- Foundational knowledge in Microsoft Excel

- Practical knowledge of Process Check Requests

- Outstanding organizational, written and verbal communication skills required

- Competent with spreadsheets and databases

- Self-starter and strong ethical standards

- Proficient with spreadsheets and databases

- Ability to work in a dynamic and changing environment

- High attention to detail and possesses excellent organizational and writing skills

- BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
