POSITION SUMMARY:

Provides direct medical nutrition therapy for hospitalized patients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

* Assess nutrition status of patients with moderate to complex medical condition.
* Mange nutrition plan of care with moderate to complex medical condition.
* Provides nutritional counseling.
* Integrates data to provide medical nutrition therapy for patients with moderate to complex medical conditions.
* Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:

REQUIRED

Four-year degree in food and nutrition and successful completion of experience through ADA program as evidenced by diploma or certificate of completion.

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

REQUIRED

Registered Dietitian by American Dietetic Association required or registry eligible,

Licensed by the State of Texas.

EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:

PREFERRED

Minimum of 1-year clinical experience in hospital setting.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:

PREFERRED

* Ability to deal with employees, physicians, patients, and visitors, to understand and follow oral and written English instructions, to maintain effective working relationship with fellow employees, to read, understand and communicate in English related to nutritional standards.
* Experience in heavy demand, fast paced environment.
* Bilingual in English/Spanish.
