Job Summary: The primary role of the Senior Filings Analyst is to prepare and submit insurance forms, rates and rules filings to state departments of insurance departments (the DOI) in 51 jurisdictions in accordance with the laws and regulations of each jurisdiction; receive and analyze objection letters from state insurance examiners and coordinate responses to same; prepare and distribute notices announcing implementation or final disposition of filings to the business units, maintain status sheets, properly document files and provide training.
Responsibilities:
* Review proposed insurance policies, endorsements, rate, and rules and assist business units on filing strategies, pre-filing research and areas of deficiency.
* Develop cover letters/description of filings.
* Prepare filings packet for submission through SERFF and IRFS; complete all supporting documentation including certificates of insurance required and facilitate approval/sign-off from management.
* Analyze state insurance regulations and statutes as necessary to respond to state insurance examiners inquiries.
* Coordinate with business units, legal, underwriting and actuaries to obtain responses to state insurance examiners inquiries (includes drafting response letters).
* Monitor and track statuses of filings, including the preparation and posting of notices of approval or final disposition of filings to SharePoint and maintain update-to-date status sheets.
* Provide business units with historical information on previous filings as necessary.
* Effectively manage time and multiple priorities.
* Review proposed insurance policies, endorsements, rate, and rules and assist business units on filing strategies, pre-filing research and areas of deficiency.
* Provide training on certain products based on experience in that area.
* Oversee specified filings and provide first line supervision for review of work;
* Function as a source of knowledge and experience for other analysts.
* Maintain proper documentation of files (including correspondence in SERFF and e-mail correspondence).
Position Requirements:
* 3+ years State Filings experience strongly preferred;
* Strong computer skills with previous experience with MS Office and Adobe Acrobat; knowledge of SERFF and Florida IRFS.
* Strong organizational and communication skills; and ability to pay close attention to detail;
* Basic legal research skills and understanding of NILS.
* Strong analytical skills and interpersonal skills.
* Able to function independently in a fast-paced environment.
* Able to handle large and diverse workload.
Education:
* Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience strongly preferred.
* The person in this position will be required to complete designated development courses offered by AIG.
