We also work to enable our partner ecosystem to integrate their apps & services deeply with Tableau. We are on a mission to make Tableau the best analytics platform and are looking for like minded people to join us on the Developer Platform team!

As a Senior Software Engineer on the Embedding and Extensions team, you will be part of a geographically distributed team of developers working to define and grow our API surface to support automation and embedding scenarios. The team is working closely with our peers in product management and sales to help drive the features needed for the embedding and extensibility business and the automation needs of customers.

Who you are

* Experienced. You have 4+ years of relevant professional experience, including 2+ years building large scale systems in a variety of common frameworks and libraries. You have experience with agile development methodology, and you understand what it takes to write software that is used by millions of people. You love writing things that just work - things that are robust, secure, scalable, and that perform well.

* Technical. You have applicable experience as a coder in large systems and have worked at scale with On Prem and SaaS products. You are familiar with Java/Python/C++ and ideally have some real world experience with API platforms for internal or external developers. You understand and advocate for modern architecture patterns and engineering practices. You understand traditional architectures, but also understand and have worked with Microservices architecture enough to know the pros and cons and where the right balance is. Experience in engineering practices around continuous deployment and test automation would also be an asset.

* Passionate. You have a passion for solving interesting real customer problems.

* Engineering Excellence. Your personal software practices ensure you deliver high quality even under schedule pressure. You believe in automation and writing tests for your own code as a way of maintaining high quality in your products. Good enough is never good enough and the user experience is your number one priority! You think far enough ahead to avoid tech debt, but know when it's best to experiment and avoid over-engineering.

* True Team Player. You enjoy collaborating with, learning from, and teaching others (including across disciplines) so we all become better. Youve been a technical leader for your teams, really enjoy mentoring others and driving technical excellence within the team.

* Motivated. You do good work, and lots of it the drive to deliver is just a part of you. You are focused on getting your best work done and understand the value of show don't tell.
