The Direct Sourcing Group is responsible for the national sourcing, contracting and the spend management of the Albertsons Own Brands portfolio ($13 Billion annual sales), including the packaging, ingredients and commodities for our twenty (20) owned self-manufacturing plants as well as various other for resale corporate merchandising programs.

The Strategic Sourcing Department has an opening for a Strategic Sourcing Manager within the Direct Sourcing Group. This position is located at the Pleasanton CA corporate office.

Who you are: The ideal candidate is a self-starting sourcing professional within the grocery retail products and/or food manufacturing area who can pick up and run with their assigned categories. You are a top performer who puts results first and follows a sourcing process. We are looking for: Driven leaders who can demonstrate that they are change agents, consensus builders and strategists who have experience utilizing a sourcing process, and whose calling and drive is to make an impact.

Key Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

* Responsible for supporting and conducting strategic negotiation events for different categories across the organization
* Strong analytical skills: able to transform data into clear and relevant information
* Develop and deliver high quality presentations
* Establish relationships and lead Stakeholders / cross-functional teams along the process to get buy-in
* Develop and lead price, and terms-and-conditions negotiations with suppliers
* Lead sourcing events from project kick-off to contract execution
* Use and evaluate eSourcing tools and new technologies
* Participate in spend analytics and work planning efforts
* Create Strategic Sourcing partnerships in order to increase addressable spend
* Become a category expert in understanding the category role and develop category playbooks and roadmaps to enhance strategic negotiations
* Develop negotiation event timeline and manage execution
* Project management
* Handle small to multi-million dollar projects
* Supervise and mentor entry level buyers and analysts on building the financial model utilized to support negotiation events

Qualifications:

* 4-year college degree, graduate degree preferred.
* 4+ years' experience in Strategic Sourcing.
* Experience in developing and managing strategic supplier relationships
* Strong experience with contract negotiations and managing strategic supplier alliances
* Experience partnering with legal and negotiating terms and conditions
* Strong business writing, and oral communications skills

Preferred Qualifications:

* Project Management skillset
* Degree or minor in quantitative field such as economics, math, statistics, managerial accounting, business management, etc. is preferred
* Strong oral and written communications skills

In 1939, Joe Albertson, a former Safeway district manager, took $5,000 he saved and $7,500 he borrowed from his wife’s Aunt Bertie, and partnered with L.S. Skaggs to open his first Albertsons store on 16th and State Streets in Boise, Idaho. Joe knew the keys of running a really great store, and it was all about working hard for the customers: give them the products they want, at a fair price, with lots of tender, loving care. Joe was innovative, too. He had one of the first in-store magazine racks in the country along with a scratch bakery and fresh ice cream made in-store. He worked hard, seven days a week, on his vision to build his company, and through his inspiring work ethic and tireless
determination to run the best store, the first store thrived. Just two years later, he had opened two other stores in neighboring communities and grew the fledgling company’s sales to over $1 million by the end of 1941.
